New To Wedding Wire

Michelle, on June 9, 2020 at 11:14 PM Posted in Planning 0 10
Hello Brides,

I am new to wedding wire, but loving everything it has to offer thus far. My wedding date is June 5, 2021. I already have my venue, decorator, caterer, dj, looking for photographer/videographers now. My question to the group is since I'm already planning so much already would you recommend I hire a planner or continue to plan on my own? I guess my question is how important is a planner? I dont want to be stressed about anything the day of that's why I'm so ahead of the game now. Thanks so much for yall input 😊

I don’t think you need a planner at this point but a day of coordinator is always useful to have

What exactly is the difference between the two? Do the planner do anything the day of the wedding that the day of coordinator do not?

I agree my date id Sept 25 2021 and I am like you have done alot and got vendors locked. I dont want a planer because I love doing all the planning but I do plan on getting a day of coordinator. They typically come in the month of the wedding and help with timelines, organizing the vendors and setting up things the decorator doesn't ex guest book, seating chart etc.
Definitely a way to keep the stress down the day of.

A full service planner will plan stuff from date of hire to the wedding day. A day of coordinator costs less because they only work the day of (along with some meetings a bit before) to make sure the day runs smoothly and set up and break down and such. You can also hire a month of planner who will help with any tasks the month leading up to the wedding and the day of. It doesn't sound like you need a full service planner since you've already got a lot of it set up. A day of or month of coordinator may be something to look into though to help you out.

Oh wow, I was thinking the day of coordinator literally just came the day of the wedding to help keep everything running smoothly. That's great to know she/he comes in a month early to help me out. I just dont want to forget anything without having a planner.

I always recommend a day of coordinator because it takes all the stress out of the day-of tasks and responsibilities. It allows the bride, groom, and family/bridal party to really enjoy the whole day and not have to worry about anything. I hired my DOC for floor plan and design also and she is also my florist so that makes things easier as well. So far she is worth every penny and I know it will be worth it when we don’t have to set up, take down, or manage all the decor and vendors day of ❣️

We are not doing a great planner but we hired a day of coordinator. They start working with us a month out and will decorate the venue, make sure all the vendors are on time and set up and help with everything else day of so all I have to do is get ready and look pretty. They also do all the set up and tear down of the tables and chairs etc. she works with us to make sure all of vendors options are good and all the details are done so we don’t for they to plan anything.

I don't think a planner would be beneficial to you at this point, but I think a DOC is helpful for everyone. They're great for the last minute things that would normally drive you insane. Our venue has a DOC we get in touch with a month ahead of time to help us, and then also a bridal attendant, which you could also consider hiring.
