Hello everyone!
Have you ever met someone (friend-wise) and just clicked? There was no awkward getting to know you stage or anything like that?

I have pretty recently (within the last year) become really good friends with this girl. We knew each other before the engagement, but we weren't really close. So I didn't really think of her when deciding on bridesmaids. However, the wedding is 6 months away and we hang out like every weekend, she has been there to help with my planning, hell.. my wedding dress is even being stored at her house!

I think part of the reason I've relied on her for help with planning is that she is local and none of my bridesmaids are within 3 hours of me. I've been thinking about adding her as a bridesmaid, but wondering if that would be wierd. I know she would happy to be a bridesmaid because we have talked about it before, but is it too soon in our friendship for that?

Thanks in advance for your thoughts!

I moved to Florida 2 years ago and had 3 roommates whom I only lived with for 5 months and we are all so close and I love them to death so they will all be standing with me! To this date I've only known them for maybe a year and a half? And to top it off we all live in different states now so it's a long distance friendship. I think if she's you're person and you want her with you on that big day that's what you should do! I believe you can know someone for 8 years and not have a lasting connection and sometimes you know someone for 2 months and it's like you've never been apart. Their shouldn't be any rules to how long someone can be your friend! Okay... done rambling now, lol!

If she’s as awesome as you say I would add her. She’s taking on that role anyway, sure why not.

Yeah! We met through my future mother in law! They teach elementary school together and my FH's mom basically set us up on a friend date when I moved into town and didn't know anyone Smiley laugh

If it's too soon to make her a BM, she can be your go to girl the day of the wedding. My sister had a friend like that an she was wonderful with helping get things we either forgot at home or forgot to have ready at the venue. We all compensated them for all their help and hard work. Honestly looking back at it, the wedding would have been a lil unorganized without them.

No problem! And I’m totally not trying to sway you against adding her. Everyone is different and it might work out awesome! I’m like you, I moved a LOT as a kid. My bridal party (MOH and two Bridesmen) are my college roommates, not my childhood friends. It’s all about the dynamic of your friend group. I just wanted to share that story because it was the hardest year. We were really really close friends for about 6mo- I was at her house every day when she originally asked me to be a part of her wedding. I truly believe the wedding thing is why we aren’t so close now. Her friends and I liked each other- until I was a bridesmaid lol everyone has made up since, I get along with (some of) her besties when i do see her and three even apologized for all the drama. But I can still feel the tension whenever I’m around so I just don’t come around anymore. Still love her pieces though!

I don't think this is weird at all! Sometimes you just click with certain people. Sounds like she's been super helpful in the planning process, so I feel as though the only change in asking her to be a bridesmaid would be the title.

A poster on here recently made a post venting about someone she barely knew but they were best friends upon meeting each other and added her to be a bridesmaid then complained about her not wanting to attend her bridal shower and bachelorette. Many of us thought that many the friend wasn't comfortable since she hadn't known her so long. She also complained about other things that i guess came out over the course of time prior to the wedding and her personality. I think you should do what you like depending on YOUR relationship, however if you had already chosen your party i wouldnt be upset if i wasnt a bridesmaid as long as i attended the wedding. She can be invited to all the events, maybe get ready day of with you. But how much a person helps you shouldn't be the main reason why you ask someone. A person/friend can help without being in the bridal party is about the closeness of your relationship outside of wedding talk.
