New Dress with only 28 days left!

Erin, on July 17, 2020 at 6:50 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 11
Has anyone else in this group bought a dress at the last minute? I go tomorrow to buy a second dress and I will only have 27 days before my wedding day 🤦🏻‍♀️
I’ve already made sure I’d have time to get it altered if need be. I just need reassurance I’m not the only bride who has done this?!

I’ve had my share of dress remorse/regret. I have bought 3 dresses...the first one was just not the one. I bought it because it looked nice and it was on sale, and I felt pressured like I didn’t have a lot of time...well fast forward I found a dress I loved from Cocomelody, had it customized as I wanted etc. with less than 5 months to spare. While it had a lot of things I loved it didn’t quite fit our theme. I’m wearing that dress to elope in and have since ordered another dress that I’ll be wearing for our celebration & renewal next year...It fits our theme and is more my style.

All this to say, you’re definitely not alone. I’d be nervous and excited if I were you! I hope you find exactly what you’re looking for Smiley smile

I did this! I got a dress 4 weeks before my wedding and was able to have it altered in just 2 weeks (fairly straightforward alterations though) without any rush fees.

I think it’s doable as long as your alterations aren’t too complicated - those usually require more runway but I’m sure you can find someone that’s willing to do it!

You aren't the only one. I had a dress I planned on wearing, but a month before the wedding I went to a bridal boutique with my mom to look for a dress to wear to my after party. I didn't like any of the short dresses so I tried on some long dresses with the intention of shortening. I tried on a beautiful ball gown with a corset back and fell in love with it so I ended up purchasing that dress and had my original dress shortened. The seamstress was amazing. In addition to altering the dress, she added a layer of sparkles to the dress since I really wanted a sparkly dress. The dress turned out amazing.

I bought my gown 2 weeks before my wedding. Got it at David’s and had the alterations done there. Picked it up 5 days before the wedding. So yes it can be done. I had bought a different dress, but the alterations didn’t go well and I couldn’t see how to make it work (when the seamstress brought the dress in, it made it so my boobs were popping out the sides.). Anyway, I loved the dress I wore. Good luck!!
