New best man 2 days before the wedding… what to do with the programs?

Layla, on January 6, 2022 at 9:41 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 2
I made our programs by hand with gold foil and letterpress… there are only 16 program but it took about a half hour to make each one. My fiancés best man can’t come anymore due to Covid, so he asked my brother to be his best man instead (they are all very laid back and it wasn’t dramatic). My question is, should I just throw out the programs? There will still be a title/cover paper that says ‘welcome to the wedding of … and …, the date and location in two languages (for our bi-lingual guests).

My other options are to: cross his name out and write in my brothers, just leave them as-is, or print new ones. The paper will not match though because I can’t send the stationary through my printer, so the first page will be off-white and the second will be white. I don’t have the letterpress supplies anyone so it would be written in similar ink but different font.
My wedding is in 2 days so I definitely can’t re-do them. Any suggestions would be appreciated!!

Can you slide a small piece of paper in the middle of the program typed on plain computer paper that simply says “Xyz is stepping in a best man. ABC’s presence is missed!” That wording isn’t quite right but this is what they do in Broadway Playbills when an understudy goes on. This way your beautiful programs are preserved, the original best man and his relationship to your fiancé gets honored, but there is no confusion for your guests why your brother is standing up.

That's a great idea!! If not, I wouldn't sweat it and leave it as is. People will understand.
