negril vs. montego bay

I have been to Montego Bay on a cruise and i LOVED it. Are you looking at certain resorts? I have heard AMAZING things about the Couples Negril resort. A friends sister went there last year on her HM and she can't say enough wonderful things about it.

Mo Bay is more touristy (is that a word? lol) while Negril is more country and laid back. there is some action but not as commercial as Mo Bay. Personally I LOVE Negril! Ive been 5 times...great food, great people, and beautiful beach!

I was in Montego Bay this past summer with FH. We stayed at Rose Hall Hilton Resort...it had a lazy river with a swim up bar...super relaxing. We went to Dunn Rivers Falls and it was so much fun! It was the first time FH had been outside of the US and LOVED it. He definitely wants to go back to Jamaica for our honeymoon, I want to try Negril, but FH wants to go back to Montego Bay. I will probably sway him to Negril since I heard the beaches are better. Plus I heard from others that stayed in other resorts in Mo Bay on one of our tours that you can hear airplane noise, we didn't seem to have that issue at the resort we stayed at, but I may just not have noticed. I see we have the same wedding date, maybe I'll use you in Jamaica.

We are actually going to the Sandals resort in Ocho Rios. I have heard that the crime rate in Montego Bay can be an issue at times, and our travel agent said that you get a true rain forest feel in Ocho Rios... plus the resort there is one of their top rated ones. So if you're sold on either Negril or Montego Bay, I'd chose Negril over the other.

@ Mrs. T, not sure why I said "use", I meant see...lol sorry I am trying to multi-task and it is NOT working.

My FH has been to Sandals Montego Bay. He stayed in the Sandals Inn and could go to all of the Sandals resorts. He said that Sandals Inn is not as crowded, gives you the Bed and Breakfast feel and you can still have the excitememnt of all the places. I think this is where we are going for our HM. I am so excited too. I have been to Europe but not anything like Jamacia.

Negil has more beaches but Montego Bay has more attractions. Good luck with your planning!!!
