Negative Opinions

Yep, I am also getting a lot of this. I think it's normal. It's hard for people to accept that you're going to do YOUR wedding the way YOU want to for whatever reason. And there are so many opinions about every. single. detail. And they all contradict each other! But it's not so much the opinions that get to me - it's the suggestions. They just come at me non stop and that 's what's very stressful. For instance, I've said what we're going to do for our dessert table probably 20 + times and still people send me photos and suggestions of how they think it should be instead of helping with MY vision.... UGH.

Everyone has something to say when it’s your wedding, practice your polite spine. Girl some of my guests try to outdo each other in terms of frugality. A guest didn’t see the point in using tablecloths(“Why don’t you just use those paper ones from Dollar Tree? Those are so expensive.), my cake was too expensive(“Why don’t you just order one from Walmart? It’s just cake.”)

”That’s lovely but I had other ideas.” or some variation is my go-to phrase.

I don’t think people are being malicious, maybe they’re trying to help save money but it’s YOUR wedding and if you can afford it then just do it.

Luckily I haven't had much negative comments, I have made it a point to let everyone know that I want everyones opinions but when it comes down to it it is my fiance and I's wedding so in the end we should have the final say. I would just ignore all the negativity because its your big day and if you are happy with everything that is all that matters

Absolutely! I don't doubt what we are doing at ALL! It has always been important to me to have a ceremony, have our family and friends there and make it an intimate but memorable affair. In my opinion, it's the beginning of the rest of our lives and I would love to set that off with the right tone. Never once have I doubted my man! He is amazing and I want to celebrate that with him. The haters can hate lol it just has gotten annoying at times

I think you are right on the jealousy thing! A lot of people brag about $800 weddings etc. but they are usually the ones that are divorced or in an unhappy marriage that are bragging about it. I think those that do not WANT a wedding kind of bother me. Not about the cost, but those who don't want to celebrate it... I don’t know I do not think its as "true" in some ways. Not sure if that makes sense? But I don't say that to them lol

I'm SO happy that you haven't had negative comments!!! Mine only started coming in once we got amazing deals on our florist, photographer and location. Basically we got top notch deals and people now think we are spending WAY more than we are (which is fine by me lol) and all of a sudden everyone needs to know why not spending a lot is a great idea.

Absolutely agree!!! My mama did that at first quite a bit until I kindly reminded her that her wedding had the table cloths and cake because they literally just paid for a house ... which was the cost of a wedding.

Otherwise she wouldn't have wanted that lol

Bringing the excitement here is a great idea! Honestly this has been a really healthy environment for me. What is funny is I feel like most people do not care, so this has been my way to vent and explain what has gone on. Thanks for reminding me of that!!!!!

I do have my FH, some friends and some family that are. Just a handful that stick out.
