I was a bridesmaid at a wedding a two weeks ago and I cannot believe how we (the bridal party) were treated! We all traveled to the destination wedding and took time off work for this wedding, which is totally fine and I was happy to for my friend. I won't give away too much detail, and there were quite a few things that went wrong, but this one was the worst:

We were forbidden from eating the whole day (until reception), because as the bride's MOH put it - bridesmaids are meant to just stand there and look pretty. Um...WHAT?!?! We were there at 7AM for hair and makeup (which we were charged for) and when one of us tried to eat a finger sandwich from the table (laid out for the groomsmen and staff I guess?) We got reprimanded by the bride's sister and aunt. THEN boxed lunches came for everyone at around 11AM and we were not offered any to eat. By this time we were all starving and PISSED! We left to go back to our hotel and change dresses and got some fast food on the way. In spite, we probably ate like 1500 calories each haha!

There were many other issues like lack of planning, no information regarding scheduling etc and rehearsals 5 mins before the wedding start in front of all the guests, but the eating thing took the cake! We were treated like props.

I'd like to think that the bride didn't know this was happening? Hard to say because she was on the text stream where we were told NOT TO EAT LUNCH.

I'm gonna feed my wedding party until they can't stand haha. I don't care, they are my friends!!

That is insane!! My FH and I attended a wedding where both a bridesmaid AND a groomsman fainted during the ceremony, presumably from not eating/drinking enough during the day. Right after that, we created a snack/meal plan for the wedding day so that the wedding party will be eating/drinking all day long!

    I have hypoglycemia - if I don't eat, I'll get very ill!

I would have eaten the food and made a point of doing it in front of them. What was the point of the boxed lunches if they weren't for you?
We provided pizza for my side of the BP, and DH's side had all the snacks and amenities of the IL's place. Because, y'know, FEEDING PEOPLE is kind of important.

I'm so sorry you had to go through this!

That's crazy! The fact that they would not let you eat is insane! I'm not getting married until 4pm and I am feeding my bridesmaid's breakfast and lunch while we are getting ready for the wedding. Of course also dinner at the reception.

I will say that it is a possibility that the bride had no idea what was going on. My FH's sister got married earlier this month and there were some things that happened the day of the wedding that she had no idea about until she was told days after the wedding. She didn't even touch her cell phone the day of the wedding until the middle of the reception because she was busy.
