Need to find a Church in NOVA (northern virginia)

marie, on June 1, 2011 at 6:39 PM Posted in Planning 0 4

Hello everybody!

I am a newly engaged woman in Northern Virginia. We are having our reception June 23, 2012 at Old Town Hall in Fairfax, VA and we are trying to find a church somewhere nearby (Fairfax, Alexandria, etc.) My fiance has been raised Catholic his entire life, and attended catholic high school and we both attended a catholic university. I was born catholic, was baptized catholic and received my first communion, but was never confirmed. The two of us currently live together as well. The main problem we are finding with Catholic churches are that they a) expect me to get confirmed (I do not want to) and b) they have an issue with us living together. What other type of church could we get married in? My fiance really would like to get married in a church. Please helppppp!

Look for a unitarian universilist(sp) church. They are very open to all. My brother is catholic and his wife Muslim and wanted to get married in a church and were welcomed with open arms. Good luck.

    Marie -

We are getting married at St Peters on Capitol Hill. My fiancee wasn't confirmed (our wedding is in 3 weeks and he just started the process but it was absolutely not a requirement he do so) and we are living together. The priest chatted with us briefly about living together when we met w/him but it was never an issues. Probably 30-45 minutes away from Fairfax but wanted you to know that there are catholic churches that may be possibilities.
