Before you start judging me hear me out first. Ive had my eyes set on a pastor for years to do my wedding ever since he did my cousins. But now he says he won't do it because I'm not apart of his church. I'm not very religious, but my husband is Christian and we think it would start something if we didn't have a Christian wedding. But I see a lot of hypocrisy In Christianity and religion. I thought Christians were to love thy neighbor and help them out. Nope. Not in the least. This is frustrating... My fiancé and I don't have much money. I don't feel like joining a church just to get a pastor...any ideas

I am a Christian and my FH is not religious. I did some research and found a couple of officiants that so non-denominational weddings in my area. Won't be in the church but I am satisfied.

Step away from the friendor. Being legal doesn't mean being good.

There are secular officiants, you can even have a friend or family member marry you (my friend is marrying me -- before you all rip me to shreds, she has degrees in public speaking).

However, I'm just wondering what, as someone who isn't Christian and critical of religion, you expected to happen?

It's more than public speaking too.

So do you want the ceremony in a church? Or just a ceremony that references God? The later will be quite easy to find. Search through the vendors here on WW. You'll find one, I'm sure, that will do a non-denominational ceremony for you at your venue. If you want it in a church, that will be more difficult. You will have to search for a place. Sometimes you can find older churches in parks that are available for rentals (at least around here...Not sure where you live).

I'm sorry you have had bad experiences with some religious people. But I wouldn't paint all of them with the same broad brush. If you were to try attending services at different places, you may find a true spiritual home. But of course, only if that's what you want to do.

Look into a lay officiant that can do a Christian ceremony
