Hi ladies,

I just need some input on what everyone thinks about my mother's dress choice. She recently went shopping and found a dress but the only thing is is that it is black. I actually love the dress regardless of color but my sister and dad questioned why she would wear black to a wedding. From my stand point I disagree i dont feel like it's wrong for her to wear that color. I am having an intimate wedding and our ceremony is only going to last around 30 minutes then we are having dinner at a restaurant which is why I didnt see the big deal of her wearing a black dress. I am basically looking for other people's perspectives on whether or not it is inappropriate or if it's not a big deal.

I disagree with your dad and sister, too. My bridesmaids and FH's best woman are wearing black dresses. It's classic and classy. Be upset if she wears white 🤣🤣🤣 but not black! ❤

Too many cooks in the kitchen with opinions. My MOH is wearing black, it’s elegant. If you like it, and she likes it that’s all that matters.

You’re the bride. If you don’t have any issue with the color or the dress tell you mom to go for it. Personally I want my mom to look beautiful if that means a black dress so be it. Congratulations

My mom wore black to my wedding. She looked amazing. She walked me down the aisle with my dad, too.

My mom wore black and so did my husbands stepmother. I got married almost two years ago and have never thought anything of it until I just read this post lol.

Black is classic, elegant and a flattering on many women. Great color choice for MOB/MOG.

Not wearing black is an outdated tradition. It used to be a thing, so I get why some people may still have that opinion, but it doesn’t really apply anymore. I’ve worn black to weddings, and it was the most common color I saw at the last three I attended.

Especially at a restaurant--where it makes sense in the setting--there's nothing wrong with black! I probably just wouldn't suggest it at a garden or beach in July. 😂 Hope your mom loves her dress. 😊

It’s fine to wear black and as long as you don’t care nobody else should worry about it
