Need gift ideas please

Mrs.B-Baby!!, on April 14, 2012 at 2:33 AM Posted in Planning 0 4

I would like to give a gift to the longest married couple. I was first thinking some Bath & Body Works for the woman. Like the 3/$15 deals. Then when it came to the men,it's hard to choose a gift.

I am wondering should I do two seperate gifts or maybe get a gift certificate to a known restaurant like IHOP (figuring it's in every state) & give to the couple? Maybe a $25 certificate.

I think that will be great, you have to remember that the oldest married couple are probably going to be an older couple, so I think an IHOP card would be great just because they will most likely use it, if not get a restaurant card, and a gas card. if the couple that wins you know does not drive give them the restaurant card, if they do drive give them the gas card with like a note saying something like " for you to travel many more miles together" if they dont drive you and FH will use it anyways.

I think a restaurant gift card would work. I have heard of giving a flower bouquet, candy, wine, etc. too. Do you know who would be the longest married couple at your wedding? It usually tends to be grandparents. If you can figure it out before the wedding, maybe you can get them a more personalized gift, like a card to their favorite restaurant.

    Hey Mrs. B! *Waving*

I would definitely do a couples gift! My God-parents are 70ish and they live in MD -- we're in NC. They would have won it for us but my parents did! Both couples were married for 46 years. They had to sqabble over months to find the winner. Anywho, when we have to send them gifts we always do either a themed gift basket or a restaurant card to a chain like Applebees, Ruby Tuesday, Red Lobster. So IHOP is a good idea too. I would say something that references that this is a gift to be used together to keep the marriage going strong!

Btw, you could also purchase a night at a chain hotel ;-)

Thanks ladies. I will go with the couples gift and get the IHOP card because I know they will more likely use that.
