Need Florist help

Akiyana, on April 15, 2019 at 5:05 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 9

The last thing on my vendor list is a florist and it seems to be the toughest. We found someone we really like but inst sure what a reasonable amount for flowers. I have been told to maybe use real touch/silk flowers to cut cost but I cant find anyone to do it. Right now the cost seem to be around $2,500 just for reception tables (20 tables but flowers will only be on 10), bouquets, boutonnieres, and corsages for our mothers; this is not including ceremony decor. I am trying to figure out if this is a reasonable price because I feel like it is essential to the decor. The theme of the wedding is romance using colors burgundy and Navy. Any suggestions to cut cost and is this a reasonable cost for flowers?

How big are the floral centerpieces and what kind of flowers are you using? How many bouquets and bouts do you need?

That's a lot of money for flowers. I have found several shops on Etsy who do artificial flowers, and they are cheaper than real, and look just like real flowers. You may want to look there before you make your decision.

There is 9 of bouquets including mine and 9 bouts. The center pieces are taller but there are not many flowers in each. It was recommended to us to use Hydrangea, Spray Roses, Seeded Euc, Dusty Millers, and some carnations (mainly in the centerpieces). There are other flowers in my bouquet that were a bit more in cost such as Dahlias but that was only for my bouquet.

That's pretty consistent with what I'm paying ($700 for 5 centerpieces, 2 bouquets, 5 boutonnieres, 1 corsage). If you multiply everything. Personally, flowers are important to me. The first time I got married, I did my own silk flowers, and it was cheap (less than $150? For my bouquet, three bridesmaid bouquets, and five boutonnieres; we used the bouquets as centerpieces.) One thing you can do is look at using the bouquets work for reception flowers. If you're paying someone else to do the silks, you may not save a whole lot.

I’m spending about $1k for my bouquet, 7 bridesmaid bouquets, 11 boutonnières for groom, groomsmen, and ring bearers, 4 corsages for mothers and grandmothers, and arbor decor. I have been looking on Sam’s club website and it looks like it will only cost me a couple hundred dollars to order hydrangeas and roses for the centerpieces. Have you thought about just using the florist for bouquets and boutonnières and DIY the centerpieces? For me, personally, I want the reception tables to look nice but I have never remembered what centerpieces look like at any wedding I have ever attended so that was a little less important for me.

I’m confused. You don’t know what a reasonable amount for flowers are or she wasn’t sure what a reasonable amount was?

I told our florist our total floral wedding budget was $2,000 (it’s really $2,500 but I’d rather her go over $2k vs $2,500). Once we sat down with her and she told us what she could do for that price we were VERY pleased. You need to go in with a decision of what you’re budget is and they work around your budget.

Floral was the last vendor we booked and it was hard to find a reasonable price vendor. Luckily I found one. I hashtag on Instagram #weddingsinva and found my florist. We are using her only for personal flowers BC my decor lady is doing all of my centerpieces. Florals are expensive but I say if you have time just keep researching and you may find someone who is in your budget.

To cut costs we're creating a non-floral centerpiece- one that's easy to store and assemble. Our florist is creating my bouquet, 4 bridesmaids bouquets, groom's boutonniere, 7 boutonnieres for groomsmen and dads, and 3 corsages for moms and FH's grandma for $600. We're also saving on delivery costs by picking them up ourselves to morning of the wedding.
