Need advice/ideas for Dc/va items for welcome wedding bags!

ap2al, on February 6, 2018 at 3:28 PM Posted in Planning 0 8

Good afternoon WeddingWire community!

I am planning to do welcome wedding bags for my OOT guests, and I would love to incorporate something local in the bags. Nothing too overly expensive (as this was not in my original budget in the first place) but something that has the DC/VA "feel". My friends inspired me to do something local; for their wedding welcome bags in Durham, NC, they were able to get little Burt's Bees Essential Kits since that company is Headquartered there. I thought "that's brilliant!" but not sure what could be used to represent DC/VA.

Thoughts or suggestions? I appreciate it!

Virginia always reminds me of cardinals. I know from living near there that "Virginia is for lovers". Dc is well known for the monuments and history, so a touristy gift like a keychain or mug sounds good for that. My mom loves the cherry blossom festival in DC, so that could be a part of your gift as well. I think this is a great idea for out of town guests!

You could do little containers of mumbo sauce? Or maybe a georgetown cupcake?

We got married in FL but are from MD and we had cookies that were in the shapes of crabs, UMD logo, and Testudo.

I like the idea of the keychain! I would do the mug but that will be our wedding favors Smiley smile I also like the cherry blossom idea, but the wedding will be in October and I'm not sure if there will be a lot of cherry blossom-related items around the summer/fall. The keychain, like I said earlier, is a great idea! Thanks!

I'll have to do the research of the cupcakes; I reserved forty rooms, so I need to see how much forty cupcakes will cost (I'm thinking it may be a little pricey which I know sounds bad considering they are spending all the money to fly out..). I also know I may not need that many, but thinking "most" case scenario haha. I thought about seeing if there are local bakeries that will do cookies in the shape of VA.

I never thought of the mumbo sauce!

Your welcome! Old bay and crabs are SO southern Maryland if you're looking for DMV favors. Spring is coming up so you could buy cherry blossom favors now and keep them until October! I'm glad you liked the keychain idea! Another one that my family loves, is fridge magnets. We collect one everywhere we go, and even get some from friends!

You could get the mumbo sauce in a large size and then get something like these containers and maybe make a little label for each one. Might be time consuming but prob not too expensive and super cute. https://www.amazon.com/1oz-Cosmetic-Jars-Lids-30ml/dp/B06XCPVQDB/ref=sr_1_4_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1517950334&sr=8-4&keywords=1%2Bounce%2Bcontainers&th=1

Omgeez fridge magnets are awesome idea too! And I do love some Old bay seasoning, just saying. Awesome, thank you so much!!

And I am ready to see the cherry blossoms this year! Maybe I can snag some of the cherry blossom swag after the peak cherry blossom tourist season when it may be on sale.

That's a great idea and not too expensive (like you said) either! I can do the labels on the printer and use the wedding colors on them, along with our hashtag. Thank you so much!
