Need a Father/daughter Dance Song - Looking for alternative suggestions

I'm struggling trying to find a song for my father/daughter dance. I'm looking for an alt. rock, indie, or 80s new wave song. I hate country music and am not a fan of your typical songs chosen for this dance.

Anyone out there have any suggestions within or close to these genres?

I haven鈥檛 decided 100% yet but a song that my dad and I used to always sing together was heaven let your light shine down 馃槉

The only one I can think of for my dad and I is Wildflowers by Tom Petty. I鈥檇 really love to find an Eagles song that would fit for the dance but I haven鈥檛 found any yet.

I'm the same way of seriously disliking country music! (That's all my MOH could suggest for things 馃ぎ) I grew up listening to classic rock and was really struggling to find a good song that wasn't the typical "My Girl" or "Beautiful world" the song I decided on is called Father/Daughter by Paul Simon.

My dad isn't really much of a slow dancer. He loves oldies music so I'm going to mix about 30 seconds of 4 songs together. We'll start with a slowish song, then, will go into faster songs. I'm doing "My Girl" by The Temptations, "Staying Alive" by the Bee Gees, "Boogie Shoes" by K.C. and the Sunshine Band, and "Sweet Home Alabama" by Lynyrd Skynyrd (we're huge Alabama football fans). I'm really excited about it because I'm going to surprise him with it!
