Navy Dress Uniform

Clara, on January 24, 2017 at 5:50 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 8

My future sister-in-law just recently enlisted in the Navy, I am starting to figure out my wedding party. Initially, I was planning on having her in my bridal party and was wondering if would she be required to wear her dress uniform at the wedding or if she could wear the same outfit as my other bridesmaids?

Definitely not required, they don't even need to wear them to their own weddings if they don't want to

I would ask her what she wants to wear.

Some of our vendors who have performed thousands of weddings would love to chime in if you allowed them to comment!

Not required. I'm marrying a Navy Chief, and he refuses to wear his uniform. Says his Navy friends will make fun of him. I'm sure your friend would rather dress like the other bridesmaids.

Also, his groomsman and groomsladies are all in the Navy, and they won't be in uniform either.

Oh, and one more thing. If she's in uniform, she can't cut up at the reception, because she might get in trouble. Might be fine for your wedding (I don't know what you like), but my reception should be a damned good party and I want people to be able to be their drunk selves. ;-)

If you're OK with her wearing the dress uniform, ask her....

She knows what she do and how to act and if she wants to adhere to that.

Required? No. It is, however, disrespectful to not allow her to wear it if that's what she would prefer to wear.
