Navy Blue Tux Rentals?

Elyse, on September 30, 2014 at 2:37 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 27

Has anyone had luck with finding a place that will rent navy tuxes? Men's Warehouse only does black or gray. Joseph A. Bank has them now but is merging distributors with Men's Warehouse in 2015. Suggestions were to just have the GM buy suits but that would apparently cost them around $500 and I like the look of the tux better than a suit. I know it's early but if I have to change the color scheme I would rather do it now (even though I'm pretty dead set on navy! haha)

Do you have Savvii formal wear near you? I know they are in most St. Louis malls, I would google search tuxedo rentals in your area.

Susan, thanks I'll have to do more research on Savvii. I'm in Philly and the GM are in PA, NJ, DE, and MD (same with BMs). I'm bummed that the biggest chains around here don't have them. Is navy really that odd? I'm getting married on a ship so I'm going for a nautical theme.

FutureMrsW, I don't know that the two chains are but they are going to use the same distributor.

If you have an Al's Formal Wear where you live, maybe they would? I haven't noticed any places carrying a navy one, but then again I haven't been looking. Good luck in your quest!

I am running into the same problem. Apparently navy tuxes are like unicorns. The suggestion given to me was the groom and groomsmen would have to buy navy suits instead. If you find a solution please let me know

Honestly, I had to look everywhere and couldn't find anyone that rented navy tuxes. I jus couldn't.

I had to buy navy suits....which were like $220 each so it ended up being the same to buy as it was to rent a tux.

This is the second thread in two days I've seen looking for navy blue tuxes... are you talking about the black tux pants with the satin stripe, with a navy jacket with black shawl collar?

Why don't you like navy suits as an alternative? Guys can wear a bow tie with a suit, the same as a tux... just trying to understand why this keeps showing up on threads!

Agree with Heather - buying a midnight blue modern-fit all-season wool suit from Jos A Bank costs the same as renting a tux, and the guys get to re-wear the suit. Our guys will be in midnight blue suits, white shirt, pale pink tie (at least, that's what I'm planning on this month Smiley smile

This is the suit that FH is having his GMs (and him) wear in the tan color. It's a great suit - very high quality. They have 50% off sales all the time ... still ends up being $285 for the entire suit (sometimes they also have an additional 15% off sale which lowers it even more) but then they get to keep it ... and it's a great suit!

I do want them to be all navy, no black. I loved the ones they started showing me at JAB but when I told him that my wedding was in 2015 he said they will have a whole new collection and the navy may not be included.

For those who ended up buying suits - does that 200ish price include the shirt/tie/etc?

Kylene, i love that suit!!! Just gotta get the big and tall version for these guys lol

Elyse: yes! It came out to about $230 for the suit, shirt, tie, and pocket square (we didn't go with the tie and pocket square, so the guys spent right around $200)

If you want to get technical, a tuxedo is a very specific thing, coming in either black or midnight blue. It has either a peak or shawl lapel, with fabric matching the stripes on the pants, etc. etc. It sounds like if you want NAVY, specifically, you will have to go with a suit (not a tuxedo). I would imagine there has to be SOMEWHERE in Philly that can accommodate navy suit rentals for your bridal party. Have you checked with any independent tux shops in the area? We are going through CE Roth in Allentown, and for our out-of-towners, they just need to call in their measurements. It's worth a shot, at least. Otherwise, you might find some good deals on navy suits to purchase at a department store like JCPenney or Macy's. Good luck in your search!

I've been dealing with the same issue! I had my order in to Jos a Banks for the navy tux in 2014 for my 2015 wedding and now they are giving me a hard time about it. I just discovered they were using Jim's Formal Wear to get their tuxes from initially. http://www.jimsformalwear.com/tuxedo-rental-store-locator.htm. They have locations all over the country apparently. I'll be doing some more research and hopefully still getting my navy tuxes.

    BEST OF LUCK!
