Natural Nails for Engagement Shoot?

How did you guys do your nails for your engagement photos? I never wear fake nails and at the most my natural nails have some clear polish on them. Any ideas on how to upgrade my existing nails without going to a salon (I've never been lol ) or will clear look fine? The length is pretty average -...

I never wear fake nails and at the most my natural nails have some clear polish on them. Any ideas on how to upgrade my existing nails without going to a salon (I've never been lol Smiley xd ) or will clear look fine? The length is pretty average - not very long but not stubs either. My photos are this Wednesday.

Those look nice! I've used those before years ago and they weren't bad, just a little long for me and annoying to file but maybe I'll see what's out there. Thanks!

I just painted mine a neutral tone so they’d be shiny and clean-looking while still looking pretty natural. I think just a clear polish would be fine!

That sounds fun! I'm kind of last minute so no time to do it before the shoot but I might consider this for my wedding. Thanks!

I always feel like I look like a kid when I try my nails in a color but it's probably because I'm not used to it Smiley smile Might be worth a shot! I totally hadn't thought about my wedding nails prior to this post but it has now been added to my list. Thanks!

Aw that stinks! Totally can't tell and they look fine to me! Sounds like I shouldn't waste my time unless I go with the real deal salon acrylics haha

Most salons offer walk in appts. You could literally get them done 2 hours before the shoot but I don't recommend that time crunch.

I went natural for my shoot. I just filed them to make sure they were an even length

If you want any kind of color but want to keep them light and neutral, I would go for a very light baby pink or nude color. If you would feel more comfortable with just clear polish, there's nothing wrong with that! If you're planning on going to a salon for your wedding nails, I would highly suggest a trial if you're not used to going. I get my nails done consistently every month and I'm still doing a nail trial to make sure I love it because I'm really picky about them. Maybe your bridal shower or bach party (if you're having them) would be a good time for the trial?

I got a basic manicure, with a pretty pink color, but it didn't matter - you can't really see my nails in any of the pictures (we didn't do close-ups of my hands).

I think your nails will be fine but if you are really paranoid about it you can buy the stick on ones just for the photos and remove them. That’s what I’m going to do since I am unfortunately a nail biter and fake nails wouldn’t work with my job.

Have you considered gel? They give a very nice shine to your nail. I have an at-home kit and do them myself. It saves a lot of money.

I never paint my nails because I constantly chip them. I did paint my nails nude for my engagement photos though. I think it did make a difference in the photos even my fiance mentioned he was glad I painted them and that it added a nice touch to the photos.

Thanks everyone for your input! I just went natural with a clear coat and think it worked just fine for me!

I’ve been a handful of times to a nail salon and I always get gel because I hate fake nails... I got fake nails once and it almost messed up my real nails.. now I do gel only.. I was actually having this problem just yesterday lol.. I decided to do my own nails instead.. and this is the color I did, to match my dress...
