How did y'all go about your name change at work? I am absolutely changing my name, no hyphen or anything, and am wondering.... do I make some sort of announcement? How did y'all go about your name change at work? I am absolutely changing my name, no hyphen or anything, and am wondering.... do I make some sort of announcement? The actual year-round staff I work with is small and close, but I also work with about 150 individual condo owners.

Should I send out a note explaining, or do I just change it and move on? My e-mail won't have to change, as it's my first name only.

@Emmy LOL when I changed my name at work I had several people reach out to me to say Hi I see you changed your name, for happy reasons I hope! I usually laughed and told them I had gotten married.

Depending on the reason for a divorce some people might be as happy as I was to get married.

In your case, OP, because you have clients, I think I would send a mass email stating that effective such and such a date, your name has changed from X to X. Please note there is no change in my email address or telephone numbers. It maybe be an opportunity for you to "touch base" with some of your clients when they call or email to ask you whats up with the name change. Never miss an opportunity, is what I always say!

Well, you need to contact HR to do it officially. Every place is different.

Informally, I changed my email signature to my new name once my email changed and added a (Formerly _______) with my maiden name. I've just left it there since in case I have to reach out to an old contact and they may not be aware.

So it says Stephanie Smith (formerly Jones)
