My wedding venue is for sale

Ali, on October 11, 2019 at 10:20 AM Posted in Planning 0 4
I received an bulk email the other night from my wedding venue saying they are for sale and that they don’t exspect for a sale to go through for 3-6 years. In my mind that is not guaranteed. If someone came tomorrow and offered them cash the sale could be closed in 15 days. At this point I am at a loss of what the heck do I do! I have already booked vendors for my wedding day at my venue! Would you guys find a new venue or risk it and wait to see what happens! My wedding is Aug 1st, 2020. Also if I should look for new venue how would y’all try to get the deposit back!

Try not to panic. I am not sure what kind of venue you are talking about, but for certain venues, any new buyer has to honor active contracts. Any transition should not affect your plans. Talk to the current owners about what a sale before your event will mean for you, and if necessary, get it in writing to give you peace of mind. No new owner is going to want to forfeit profits by canceling any events.

I would contact the venue and ask them if they plan to have stipulations with the buyer that current contracts must be honored, otherwise I would ask them for a refund and checkout new venues.

They possibly stated the 3-6year frame, because they may plan to honor any existing bookings. Call them and find out what the plan is, then you can figure out if you need to panic or not.

    Hey there, Ali!

Excellent advice from the PPs. This is what I would also recommend! It would be best to reach out to the venue and see what happens in the case the venue is sold before your event. Try not to panic until you have all the info!

Have you reached out to them in the meantime?
