My wedding is in June. Reprint rsvp cards?

Melanie, on March 16, 2020 at 12:48 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 5

Hi everyone -- I need advice. As you may know, the CDC issued new guidance recommending that events with 50+ guests should be canceled/postponed for 8 weeks (through May 10) because of the coronavirus (COVID-19). My wedding is on June 20 and I'm getting nervous.

My RSVP cards are for May 1, but I can't imagine anyone being able to make a decision in April with everything going on. Shutterfly offered to send me free replacements, but I'd still need to pay for shipping ($10). Do you think it's worth it even though there might be a chance my wedding will be canceled altogether? Things are moving so rapidly and it wouldn't surprise me if the guidance was extended through June. Thoughts?

Thank you!

M

I actually screwed up on the rsvp date even before this whole crisis! Lol. We just texted/called our guests to let them know we actually needed their response on such and such a date. They were understanding. It also helped that we have a wedding website. They just rsvp’d there and we were able to easily track their response.

I think it's worth it to have the RSVPs reprinted. If you're really worried about it, which would be reasonable, you can wait a couple of weeks and send them out a bit later. If everything ends up blowing over quickly, you've given people time to find that out, and if it doesn't and you have to postpone, you've only lost $10 on this.

You can add a small note with the correct info and explain anything in regards to coronavirus...the above poster has a good idea. Im in june too and with the US unable to contain the virus I have a feeling june weddings will be cancelled as well. This hasn't gotten ugly yet and there is already a 8 week ban, can you imagine when its gets bad.

I would totally wait at least a couple of weeks before making any decisions. Everything is just too fluid right now to make any rational decisions. My wedding is at the end of May and we will be sending out invites for an early May RSVP date. We aren't planning on cancelling the wedding and would only postpone the reception if our venue won't let us in there. A bunch of my family, myself included, has a scientific/medical background and that is why we have the current plan we have.

Our wedding is June 27th, and though I’m nervous as all hell about having to postpone I’m moving forward as planned. All the experts say June is going to be the turning point, so with our weddings being towards the end of June I think we should stay the course and pray!
