I just picked up my wedding dress the other day and it is at least 2 sizes too big. They claim it can be altered but I am so worried about it. I can't stop thinking it won't look right. Please if you have any helpful advice...I would greatly appreciate it!! Thanks

Beautiful dress! Best of luck!! Let this also be a lesson to anyone else still searching for a dress... Most places recommend you order at least 1 to 2 sizes bigger than you need. For one - it's always easier to go in than go out so its partly to cover themselves for ordering too small. Others do it for reasons already mentioned - they want to hit you with a hefty alterations bill! Some places will even require you to sign a release if you demand to order a more appropriate size then what they recommend. So make sure you ask to see the measurements and the manufacturers sizing chart for yourself and don't let them bully you, especially if they are trying to convince you of ordering more than one size up.

I'm so glad to hear that you found someone that could take it in for you!

I ordered my dream dress, only to have it not be big enough--and not have time to re-order. All is well cause I have found another very beautiful dress that I ordered too big for this reason!

I understand your nervousness though! After such disappointment the first time around, I panic every once in a while...I'll feel better when its all finished!

Who was the person you ended up using for alterations ?

I am looking for someone to do alterations and spot cleaning. I need someone who is very reliable because I don't live in PA and only travel back home once in a while so I won't be able to come in for a lot of fittings. If anyone has good reccomendations I would greatly appreciate it.

Wow, I just picked my dress up and it's too big as well. Please let us know how your alterations turned out. I told the woman I wore a 4 not a 6 but she insisted and I thought she knew best.. Smiley sad Lots of beadwork and crystals I'm nervous someone will screw it up.

Help!! I got my wedding dress from David's Bridal.. Well they did the alterations to make the dress a size 0 to fit me. Well it fits but I'm having issues with top part. It's a strapless dress, and I'm a size 38A and it fits a little big on top still what can I do go fix that? And my next problem is the stomach part a little loose not too much but I don't want them to do anymore alterations because I'm 5'6 and the dress will just get shorter...My wedding day is this yr in Aug. Thanks
