Beginner November 2015

My venue has been double booked!!

So my wedding is on November 7th and we booked our venue September of 2014. My fiancée and I were sitting around trying to come up with our order of event during the reception time and we were confused on some stuff so I emailed my venue coordinator and the next day I received a phone call which I didn't answer so they left me a voicemail that said "your coordinator no longer works here but your email says 11/7 and we have you booked for 11/14" omg I almost had a heart attack! So my contract says 11/7 but entered the information wrong on their calendar. So since they go off of that they double booked. I know that when we booked we were the first ones to book for that day because they gave us the option of choosing the room we wanted since there are three rooms within the venue. Well now all three are booked and the manager hasn't called. Even though I know we have a good case I still can't get myself to relax and I feel so much anxiety.

Well good! As I said, venue coordinators changing is pretty common here, which makes it even more important to get EVERYTHING in writing; any rooms that you'll be using, any extras they've thrown in, special menu items, and timing of when you can get there, etc. Don't leave anything to chance; it puts both you and the new coordinator at risk.

And keep in mind that 'new' coordinators are rarely new to the position, just the venue. Really good ones are in very high demand.

So happy it worked out for you! What a nightmare! The venue seemed to handle it pretty well, mistakes happen and at least they didn't try to fight you on their error and fixed the error while trying to keep the stress off the client as much as possible.

So glad this worked out. I read your story and immediately emailed any vendors I hadn't talked to in months just to touch base. I'm so glad it worked out and that the venue handled it properly once they realized their mistake. Your wedding is in one month now! Time to put this behind you and enjoy the excitement

Glad it worked out! I am married already and was freaking out hearing this. I would have just sat and cried!

My venue only has 1 room to book out, 3rd floor ballroom, and the bridal suite goes with it. It is a very large bridal suite because it's a room used for meetings and dinners during the week but goes with the wedding package on weekends. The old wedding coordinator booked it out for another wedding the day of ours.... I was so upset! They did nothing about it and we had to get ready in a small office.

I can't imagine how you felt! Glad it all turned out.
