My ring is turning colors... :(

I've been engaged for almost a year now. I've just noticed that my ring is starting to change colors. It started out silver with gold lining. Now its turning all silver. I've showed FH because I wasn't sure if it was just the lighting or my eyes. And all he said is that he hopes he didn't get jipped because he got it from a well known department store. I don't think he would have did it purposely but I don't know how to go about seeing if its just tarnished and needs to be cleaned or if the ring is not actually real. FH doesn't wear jewelry so he honestly wouldn't know if he was sold a dream or not. Any help you can lend on what I can do to check it out and how to tell him in a nice way if I find out that its not real so it doesn't crush his ego?

My white gold ring is turning yellow after only two months. It’s stamped with 585 on the inside. Is this common so quickly to happen?

I would stop by an independent jeweler for their opinion on metal composition and what may be happening. THEN I would also take it to the store where it was purchased and ask them what they can do. Get a quote from both, but you'll be armed with information when you go to the department store.
If he feels he got a really good price, it may be silver plated in yellow gold and the yellow gold may be wearing down. THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THIS! It doesn't make your ring, love or marriage any less! But I would imagine you want to know what is happening so that you can feel better about it and maybe get it fixed. It shouldn't be too pricey to fix either! Is your ring insured? Your insurance may even cover that.

So I talked to my fiancé and he purchased online and said it’s white gold and it has a warranty. I also went to a jewelry store and they said more than likely it’s a low grade white gold and that it will keep happening because it’s not very good grade :/ we’re looking at options of either waiting to upgrade or see if we can take my stone into a new band. I’m so sad. It’s only been 3 months.

585 usually means 14k gold in European jewelry. Two months is pretty quick for the rhodium to start wearing off.
