My neighbors are having sex

Again. I get it, sex is great, sex is natural, everyone loves sex. So moan a little, thump a little... But buy some god damn WD-40 for your 'effing noisy as hell squeaky ass bed. Seriously. We live in an apartment, I understand that noise travels, but this is ridiculous. It's right above my head....

We live in an apartment, I understand that noise travels, but this is ridiculous. It's right above my head. Squeak squeak for like 30mins almost every night, in the middle of the night so loud it wakes me up.

Would it be rude to bang on the ceiling and mess up their rhythm? It would be? Oh darn.

Okay rant over. Am I the only one here? Do you try to be considerate knowing that others might hear or be disturbed?

I would bang on the ceiling. No shame lol. When I was in high school I would spend the night at a friends apartment often and her neighbors headboard was on the same wall as hers. They had sex all the time and we would just bang on the wall till they stopped hahah

WD-40 is definitely the plan, with a nice little note. And I banged on the ceiling last night which made them stop...but only for a bit. I think hearing the male moaning is the worst :/

I've heard the same "nocturnal activities" coming from my neighbors. I've also heard as others have stated loud neighbors that stomp when they walk. Have you tried talking to the property manager? I did that when stomper moved in above me and it helped for a few weeks. If you go this route, just make sure you can give an accurate time when the activities are happening.

I love this post. We live in an apartment too and are always courteous! But in my 20s, I didn't care at all.

My old apartment building was really close to another one so the noise basically tunneled to me (I was on the corner unit) The noise was so clear that when my neighbor had a baby I could hear her “shhh” the newborn and rock him to sleep. So imagine the bootie bumping neighbors below with the sliding glass door wide open haha I feel your pain lol Maybe yell “Woohooo is that all you got?” And mess them up haha or leave a bottle of WD40 at their door with a note hehe

Am I the only one who just feels happy that someone is getting some? My current neighbors don't disturb me with sex noise just loud parties sometimes, but I used to have a neighbor who had a really loud boyfriend. He lived below us, but my roommates and I at the time just giggled and were happy for him. Of course if it was waking me up every night, then I might have an issue. Sorry, bang on the ceiling for sure.

You should just attach the WD-40 to the letter if you actually want them to do it. This thread and the comments crack me up!!! To be honest I have lived in apartments and didnt care who heard me. Hotels too! That is what you are supposed to be doing in your own home and or rental space,LOL! Thank God I live in my own house and I am not annoying anyone anymore.

Ugh. The worst. We had 2 sets of tenants in our house who were awful. The first one was a couple in their 40s, and she was a screamer. It made me so uncomfortable that, even in the middle of the night, I would go outside for a walk. The second set had a 2 year old, and if she woke up while they were (incredibly loudly) going at it, she would scream and tell her to shut up, and then go back to it. It was awful. She was also not the nicest girl (she was a 18 year old mum, who didn't give an eff about her daughter, or our house or boundaries) but her boyfriend (who it was leased to) was a gem and really loved her and her daughter, so it was hard to stay mad at him. But I couldn't make eye contact with her. We used the stomping method to get them to shush. It didn't work.

We live in a townhouse, and just got new neighbors on one side around Christmas. They yell at each other all. The. Time! It's so annoying.

I had a roommate that did this while my dad was over visiting me! Let's just say it didn't go over well and my former roommate and I no longer talk!

Ugh. Our neighbours are football players and they REALLY love their rap music. They listen to it literally ALL DAY LONG as loud as possible with the bass so high that I can feel it thumping the floorboards in our apartment.

One night they had a party and were being obnoxiously loud until 6 AM when I finally called the police. I also wrote a note to our landlord and he had to go talk to them. They've stopped doing it at night, but they still listen to their music all day, every day.

Apparently you can't do anything about it if the noise is during the day, which sucks because my roommate and I are students and it's really hard to study when you're head is pounding from music you don't even like.

I don't get why the neighbours on the other side haven't said anything, they have a kid so you'd think they'd want quiet...

I've thought about taping a pair of headphones to their door and leaving a note that says "you need these more than I do."

You should totally leave some WD 40 and a note. Even if they don't use it, maybe the note will make them self-conscious enough to quiet it down.

I had a neighbor like this. It would only last for like 5-10 mins though, so I couldn't complain too much LOL. The girl carried on like it was the best 5 mins of her life. Oh, apartment living.

I live in apartments with thin walls...Luckily, I haven't experienced this...maybe bc most of my neighbors are old (50's & up) or maybe they just aren't loud but I do know they don't sleep in the same bed...neither neighbors. However, if I did hear it I would def bang on the wall or ceiling. I would also leave a note explaining how you totally understand but it's disturbing you.
