My negative review is being disputed?????

I posted a review regarding my experience with our reception location. The hotel told us less than 48 hours before our wedding that another event was taking place in our room before us and it would end 2 hours before our reception. Leaving our DJ with an hour less than his contract stated (he was still setting up during the cocktail hour in the same room) and our assistant (a close friend) unable to be in the pictures. The plan had been the entire year that our DJ and assistant would be there before the ceremony to set up. So I posted a review so that future brides are aware, and I get an email saying it is being disputed and is not available right now? Are you joking? They forced us to break contract with the DJ and people to miss out on pictures of a day that only happens once.

Just want to know: What did your contract with the venue say? I don't care what the contract with the DJ required. It's the venue contract which would tell you how many hours of set up you receive before the reception. Was there a clause telling you that you would receive 3 hours of set up prior to the event?

Sorry this happened to you, but it's a good reminder for other brides to read your contract and know exactly what they will/will not provide.

I have found wedding wire reviews to be accurate and helpful. I think they take their vendor catalog and review legitimacy seriously.

Not saying you'd go out of your way to leave a bogus review, but competing vendors could leave a bad review. We vendors have to have some protection. Brides' protection is that you can prove you had a contract with the vendor.

@Elizabeth, I'm working on getting the contract from my dad as it was a month ago so I'm not sure exactly what that said. But the point is, one they knew since we hired our DJ and got in contact with him that he would need 3 hours, and said not a single word against it. Not when we booked the hotel. Not when we met the three other times. Nothing. And 2, when they did tell us it was 2 days before the wedding. And this is where my problem with them was. Its extremely unprofessional to wait until the last minute to mention something like that when we had been discussing for months.

@Melissa I agree completely. It is unprofessional of the venue to not contact you until 2 days before (as if they had something to hide) and future brides SHOULD know. Even if they choose the venue, your review could hopefully help them make sure to align their contracts and double or triple check their start time.

If they did break your contract, then there are ramifications and you could potentially ask for a partial refunds. However, as the contract holder, unfortunately, the responsibility falls on you to ensure that all your contract requirements align (i.e. between your DJs contract and venue contract). It sucks and I'm sorry you experienced this. But hopefully, your review and this thread will help future brides.

Are you reading anything anyone is saying? Like Rosemary said I'm trying to give you insight for why a review may be removed- you can NOT leave the same review twice. It looks like that's exactly what you did. One review is still up, one is not.

Again, if you would have read my comment, I also had a review removed by the vendor. WeddingWire investigated, I provided documentation, and the review was put back up. It does not sound like they removed your review, however, and just the duplicate review. Do you understand?

Elizabeth is absolutely spot on. Your contract needs to spell out everything that is non-negotiable for you. Spoken agreements mean nothing, especially in a venue that does more than one event a day. Unless there is absolutely nothing else going on (which is rare in October) three hours of setup time is pretty much unheard of. Almost all of my busier venues have a morning and an evening wedding, with an hour, possibly two in between. They should have let you know this was a possibility when you booked.

I'm not saying you shouldn't pursue getting your review published; you should, and if you have documentation, it will go back up. But unless you have 'it' in writing, no matter what 'it' is, you don't have it.

ETA VVV probably true, but still.

Heads up; the duplicate will probably be removed to until you confirm a contract.

To confirm what others have said, you can only leave 1 review per wedding. Multiple reviews will be removed. If you have any other questions please reach out to support@weddingwire.com or respond to the support rep who contacted you.

WW does care that's why they're asking you to verify that you did in fact do business with this venue. It's not that hard to do. All you have to do is submit a receipt or contract proving you did use this venue.

ETA: If you posted two reviews, which sounds like you did, one will be removed.

Most of the previous posters have explained things pretty clearly. I just wanted to add that YES, some people really do go out of the way to give bogus reviews (either positive or negative)! I'm not sure about WW and The Knot etc, but I've heard stories about small restaurants paying college students money to write Yelp reviews.

When someone goes on to say that they side with the vendor as well as insinuating that I made a new profile just to write my review again...? Yeah I'm going to say something. As for the hotel, the planner had spoken with us as well as our DJ and did not tell us it would be an issue. If it really was in the contract, she would of stepped up and pointed that out. But as with the rest of planning, she did nothing. Regardless. At least my accidental second post is still up and if they need proof that I didn't put up with all of this nonsense for a made up post, then fine. I just wanted to know where they get off questioning. I understand why, I just don't appreciate my honest review being questioned like that. Or being assumed to be that shallow. Thank you to the ladies that simply answered without assuming. I appreciate input.

Nobody is assuming anything Melissa. The facts: you left your review twice. One of those reviews has been requested to be removed by the vendor so far.

The reality: 100% of the brides here (except you apparently) would agree that a negative review can not be left twice from the same bride (or even the same wedding) on WW. If that means "siding with the vendor" so be it. I think it's siding with logic but to each their own.

Melissa, WW doesn't side with the vendors. Even the VENDORS don't side with the vendors. But honestly, you didn't do your due diligence. If you needed something to happen, you should have had it in your contract. Simply 'not telling you it was an issue" and expecting them to point out details on a contract you should have read? It doesn't protect you in a case exactly like what you described.

I feel like you're just looking for a reason to get defensive with people who are offering legitimate insight on this situation.
