My Little Pony theme wedding!

Very unique! Do what makes you happy, it’s your day! People can be very mean something. We’ve received some backlash for having an early ceremony & reception, done by 4pm. But we love the idea of not waiting all day to see each other and being able to celebrate all day long with each other. Good luck & happy planning!

It's definitely unique and I love how you're doing it! My mom keeps bugging me about our "theme" and I told her it's a wedding and not prom, but now I'm going to tell her Dragon Age and watch her head explode! Don't let anyone dull your sparkle!

Wow! Totally unique couple, love that you’re both on the same page.

For themed weddings, it can stay elegant and not look like a tacky kids party by choosing an elegant/cool venue and using real china/decor. Then themed decor added in works fine. For our pirate reception, we chose a cool wine cave in Napa. Nice China, linens & gold candelabras. The pirate decor (mast, chest) were made from real materials like cloth, burlap, wood and metal for an authentic look & feel. Then we had a few foam skulls and plastic chains and other cheaper materials but those blended in fine.

I LOVE THIS!!!! My son is a brony and I love how supportive the community is. I bought him MLP socks to wear for the wedding and he asked if he could wear his changeling tie clip. My wife and I loved it and thought it was the perfect addition to his outfit. I think your wedding will look amazing. Congratulations and happy planning!

OMG I'm so sorry you're going through that but that is a funny way to deal with it. Our handfasting ceremony was on the same day as the series finale and my son originally planned to excuse himself at the end of the night to watch it but ended up watching the next day instead. We had so many little nerd touches, his simply added to the whole thing. He even played the song Cadence and Chrysalis sing on the day of the big wedding for me before we got married. It made me tear up.

Ohhh how unique! Can't wait to see pictures of everything after it comes together. It is going to be magical indeed!

Here are a few decor ideas to bring in the MLP colors and decor while keeping it classy:

pink and purple uplights (maybe less-intense colors or fewer lights)

a fairytale cake with the ribbons like the wedding scene

But use the two figures you two are modeling after as your cake topper. Not sure if these are the right characters...

pink and purple bouquet (or white bouquet with hanging pink and purple ribbon)

Include a MLP keychain on your bouquet and use as his lapel pin or on his boutonniere

Create an art piece as the guestbook (with the two characters on it)

It was a huge help for me to model our reception after a scene from the Pirates of the Caribbean movie (even though we had a lot of ride tributes in there too). Here's the scene I used:

The venue will play a key role for keeping it classy. I would go for a ballroom with drapery, even if that means doing a brunch instead of dinner wedding to fit within your budget. That way, you can mimic this look easier (or choose another scene you both love):
