I am so excited for her! She and her husband had such a hard time getting pregnant with their last child, and it was a pretty rough experience for them both. So she’s kind of in shock that she’s pregnant since they weren’t even trying, but she and her husband are very happy.

Her bridesmaid dress just came in last week, which she was measured for on 11/28/15. She found out today that she is pregnant. She is pretty worried about whether or not her dress will fit her by the wedding—May 21, 2016.

I don’t think we could order the dress in a different size in time. Attached is a picture of the dress. It’s long and flowy, but the bodice is a little more fitted. (Hers is the pale blue dress.) Should we be worried about this? We're not really sure what to do.

She won't be very big at 3 months, so if there's some give at the belly, that part will be fine. The bodice is another matter, though. My breasts didn't get bigger until close to the end of my pregnancy, but it's different for everyone. Some women's blow up right away, others never change at all. I agree with dancingbearbride that she should keep an eye out for a similar dress off-the-rack one size larger. Ordering from David's Bridal online might yield good results, too; they tend to be quick.

Every woman grows differently. From my experience the first 4-5 months I really didn't get that big. But I'am a small build to begin with. The fact that it is a flowy dress I think she will be fine waist wise. Is she big breasted? If so that may be her issue bc boobs tend to grow overnight!

Also how does the dress fit now, does she need any alterations? If so that means there is room for growth!

Congrats to your friend and hope all goes well with the dress!

This happened to a friend of mine and they ended up finding ALMOST an identical dress (same exact color) at a retail store .. May have been Nordstrom .. And no one knew the difference !

My sil was 6 months pregnant at her brothers wedding and the dress shop was able to put panels in the side of her dress so she could still wear it. Eta: the corset back is a good idea too!

I think it might work still, it looks like it gives her room for her belly to grow a little.

Normally women are just starting to show at five months. So with the cut of the dress I don't think it should be that big of an issue. My niece in law is four months and you can't even tell she's pregnant right now.

Yay for babies! I'm no help on the dress question, but it sounds like pp have given lots of ideas. My SIL is a BM and found out she was pregnant at the beginning of January. She was able to get in contact with the people from Etsy making her dress & they added some extra room for her.

I'm so excited & can't wait to take awesome pictures pointing at her bump!

I think the fake belly is a great idea. That dress might work, but it depends on where that dress falls. If it was a true empire waist it would def work, but it looks like a natural waist from the photo.

2 of my sister's bridesmaids are TTC, which makes for a nightmare trying to find dresses!

If she can't return it, maybe at least try to order some extra fabric in the same color? I have 3 pregnant BMs, and the designer was so sweet and sent a few yards of fabric (for free) if we need it as we get closer.

Thanks ladies, these are all great ideas. Glad to know we have some options if we do need the alter the dress as she gets further along. We'll definitely talk to a seamstress. Smiley smile

She shouldn't be that big by then honestly. If it's her first pregnancy she probably won't show until around 5 months. At 3 months you could barely tell I was pregnant, and I'm really small. My bridesmaid will be giving birth a month before our wedding! So that defiantly led to some crazy dress decisions for her lol. Seamstresses are amazing. I would take it to on beforehand just to see how much give u have for the dress.

That dress looks like it will work and if it's her first she may just be getting a belly. Congrats to her

She might not even be showing. I say just find a seamstress and wait.

This will be her third child, but she's always been pretty small. One of those really petite pregnant women that only shows in the belly.

Talk to her, see how she feels about it. The dress is hers after all Smiley smile

Also talk to the store and explain the situation. They may be understanding and allow for an exchange in a different size, or give credit towards another dress. It should be no big deal if they let her order another dress, your wedding is in 3 months.

I have a pregnant bridesmaid. She's going to be right around 6 months at the wedding. We knew she was pregnant when we went shopping. This is what she ended up getting. She's naturally a tiny and petite girl, so I really think she's going to be that pregnant girl that's just all belly haha but this is the dress we ended up getting since it's not super restrictive at the waist and can expand a little.

Link since the picture I saved was the most grainiest thing ever and I have no idea why. Is her dress with a belt in the middle? As long as that sash looking thing is adjustable or removable without looking weird, I think you'll be fine.

@D&N I think it's a sash... but it could definitely be removed. I don't think it has those little loops on the side, but if it does those probably shouldn't be hard to remove either.

The dress really has a lot of give in the bottom--it's chiffon. I just can't remember how structured that top is! Haha It doesn't look too restrictive, but it's been a few months so I can't quite remember. I'll need to see it again in person.

If you worked w/ David's, I know they'll let her return it if she's pregnant (I found out I was pregs after I bought my wedding dress - final sale! - and they worked with me). She can get store credit and go back in the spring.

The current dress probably won't fit, and her boobs will be larger, she may be very uncomfy in that style Smiley smile
