Music??

Ericha, on February 4, 2020 at 4:22 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 4
So I was thinking of having more upbeat music at my cocktail hour instead of classical or jazz. Possibly some 70’s or 80’s hits?? Is that weird or distracting? One of my friends said it’s kinda hard to chit chat over music with words lmao... I know it sounds dumb that’s why I’m asking if it even matters 😂

To me music at cocktail hour is more for ‘white noise’ in the background than anything else. I LOVE any music from the 80s but unless that’s the vibe you want for the cocktail hour, I think it would be too distracting.

I think it depends on the volume of the music. If it’s not super loud I don’t see how it would be distracting. Imagine shopping in a grocery store you know it’s playing in the background but you can still communicate easily.

I say do what you want! We are doing 40's big band swing music. I'm sure some people will question it but it's what we feel will be upbeat. As long as it isn't super loud it should be fine.

Hey Ericha! I personally think it has to do with the volume also. If it will be faint in the background, not blasting through the speaker and interrupting discussions, I think it could work Smiley smile
