Music for walking down the aisle

Holly"Given", on July 14, 2016 at 10:55 AM Posted in Planning 0 17

So, I've talked to a few people about a good song to walk down to. The song I picked out isn't just an Instrumental it has lyrics. Pretty much everyone I've talked to said you should have just instrumental music playing the whole time. Is anyone else using an actual song?

It truly doesn't matter what you use, some people are just stuffy about tradition. The wedding march is the ugliest music in the world, however, so screw tradition...

I have several songs with lyrics I am considering, but we haven't chosen anything yet.

I have two songs for the aisle, one for the BP and then a separate song for when I walk down the aisle and they're both lyrical. Have the song that you want!

I'm walking down to Canon in D which is super traditional. I think you can have lyrics while you walk down for sure.

I hate the wedding march I refuse to use that. The song I picked is very long. I'm using it for BP and myself.

@Steph we are having Canon in D as some of the music playing before the ceremony starts. It's beautiful.

So far we are sticking with Die a Happy Man by Thomas Rhett.

It's such a great song. I truly feel that it's your day and you should have what you want and what makes you comfortable.

I'm doing 1000 years but will be instrumental & the girls will do either the Forrest Gump theme song instrumental or Turning Page instrumental but if you want lyrics then use lyrics!

We are also using 1000 years instrumental for before the ceremony. I'm going to go with lyrics I think. They just fit in perfectly!

Honestly I'm against lyrics for this particular time. I've been to a couple wedding where the bride mouthed the words as she walked down the aisle and I find it to be a little distracting especially when its a popular song that everyone knows the words.

You should do what makes you happy though. At the end of the day you should be happy with your choice.

I am using butterfly waltz by Brian Crain. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3qOeNnhUb4A It gives me a giddy happy feeling and I start tearing up everytime I hear it. The bridal march and the other traditional one give me panic attacks. They are way to intense much for me and the venue.

I was thinking about doing a song with lyrics, but I've been having a hard time with trying to figure out what part of the song will get played. There isn't a very long aisle to walk down so it would take no time at all for the song to start and then be stopped once I reach the alter.

I don't know why but we have been having trouble figuring this out also. Right now we have BP walking down to Bruno Mars "Marry You" with lyrics and me walking down to do an instrumental version of "The Final Countdown" which is a bit of an inside joke between FH and I
