Music Before-during-after the ceremony

Jessica, on February 21, 2011 at 9:53 PM Posted in Planning 0 8

I'm having a hard time picking out music to play before, during and after the ceremony. So I need something to play while guests are being seated. I will have the traditional bridal enterance song. Possibly something while we light our unity candle(do many people play music during that part?) and then exit music as we leave the chapel. I am not planning a "traditional" wedding. So I'm not against music with lyrics, opposed to just instrumental music.

    Jessica,

If you're looking for a "classy" wedding, here are my suggestions:

Pre-processional (while your guests are arriving): Baroque/smooth classical

    Processional: Something fun/upbeat but old-school

Bridal Entrance: You already said traditional, so I'm guessing "here comes the bride" or "Canon in D"

Unity candle: Instrumental, softly played after the officiant explains its significance. Good song to use for this is Kenny G's The Wedding Song. The music will be over within 30 seconds usually... so it's not a huge deal.

Recessional (either traditional with the bridal chorus or Something fun/modern and upbeat.

I'm not for instrumental either .. although I do like Vitamin String Quartet. I'm going with more of an Indie sound. Jack Johnson, Jason Mraz, Ingrid Michaelson, Matt Kearney, Wailin' Jennys, Death Cab for Cutie, Snow Patrol, etc for before and after ceremony. I'm walking down the aisle to "O" from Cirque du Soleil's "O". It reminds me of Pachabel but with a more modern twist.

    For us:

Bridal party walked in to-A river flows in your by Yiruma (sp?)

Gpa and I walked in to-Canon in D by Pachelbel

Unity Candle--friend sang a Sara Evans song I can't think of right now.

I have no idea what we walked out to. *fail*

Does the chapel have any restrictions on type of music (I understand Catholic churches have restrictions)?
