Moving across country after wedding. Should we register for gifts?

I am moving from Oregon to join my FH in North Carolina immediately after the wedding/honeymoon (which will be in OR). We are young and literally have nothing for our home, so we want to register for gifts, but I don’t like the idea of having to move it all to NC. This might be dumb, and I feel like it’s a horrible thing to complain about when children are starving in foreign countries and I am concerned about getting more gifts than I can conveniently move across country 😂 is there a registry website where people can buy the gift online and then somehow send it to us after we are settled into our new apartment? Or should I keep the registry small and hope that people just gift us money so we can buy what we need once we get to NC? We don’t have a NC address yet. Sorry if this is dumb lol but if you have any advice or stories I’d love to hear. Thanks!

    I know if you register on Zola you can choose when the gifts are shipped to you so you could choose to not ship anything until after the wedding.

    I'd probably go with the small registry and hope for cash to buy what you need when you get to NC. Another option might be to think about places you will likely want to shop when you get to NC, and if guests ask your mom or someone else for ideas, they can suggest gift cards that you can use later. My nephew and his wife moved to Tulane for med school shortly after they got married in So Cal. They had a very small registry, and his parents shared with people who asked that they were planning to buy a lot of stuff from IKEA when they got to LA. It worked out pretty well for them.     Zola!! I prefer this one over my traditional bed bath and beyond registry. It emails you when someone purchases a gift and you decide when to ship.

    Kelly and Chase's recommendation of using Zola seems like a great idea! That way, you don't have to worry about moving gifts with you across the country and they will just be shipped to your future address.
