Moved up the date

Megan, on February 13, 2020 at 3:03 PM Posted in Planning 0 6
So we were planning on Summer 2021, but after each of us finding out we each have a grandparent who isn't doing well we think we want to move up our wedding to July-September 2020.

Any tips or advice?
Originally we were planning a beach destination wedding but luckily haven't put any money down. So we are pretty much starting the planning process again, but trying to keep it as simple yet beautiful.
I started looking at venues online, want to go to a few bridal shows to find cater, Photographer, dj and such. Still need a dress.

We're planning for July as well!

So far we have a venue and photographer available. In my opinion the venue and the photographer are the two first things to book! I feel like you have a lot of options for everything else.

The venue was also the hardest for us because everything we wanted was over the price range or didn't have the needed amenities, which would cost a lot more overall.

Some of the photographers were already booked or just too expensive, though I found one today who takes amazing photos and is available.

Then I've started requesting menus from caterers. I got my dress already (if you need to order it or have it made, do it now so that you can have it with enough time to spare) Luckily my dress was the last one in stock and also my size, my mom is making minor adjustments to it.

That's as far as I've reached now. The date is confirmed so I told my overseas relatives and will send out save the dates in a few days.

The whole thing feels a bit rushed in a way because other people book more than 6 months in advance, but if you have an open mind and are willing to be flexible with your vision/date you can make it happen!

Thank you for your feedback! Makes me feel better.

I'm hoping I can start shopping for my dress and just buy off the rack then just get minor alterations.
I have a few people around me who are photographers so I might consider them to save a bit of money.

I’d go for off the rack for the dress.
Try the thumbtack app for an affordable dj/photographer/florist/mua.
But definitely get the venue ASAP.

You can also do minted for affordable beautiful invitations/rsvps/ thank you cards. They have entire all in one suites for really good prices.

The biggest thing we've had problems with is making up our minds of what and when we wanted to move things up, so I would narrow that down first. If you find a venue you like, then book that, and get started on a dress. If there's a David's bridal close to you, you could try that. They quoted me about mid March when we bought my dress on black Friday, and it ended up coming in like 2-3 weeks later

I'm getting married September 5th and I have everything major done already. That being said I've seen a bunch of ladies on here that are going to be married around that time and don't have a dress so you should be fine in that department. I would get your venue nail down as soon as possible and then all the other large vendors done since it is a busy wedding time. I use simply to impress for my save the dates, cards and pockets. Com for my invites and Ann's bridal bargain online has a ton of affordable wedding stuff as well.
We're having it at a golf course with a ballroom, so food and everything is included there. Good luck you definitely have time to get it planned!
