Mother/daughter dance

When her daughter was a baby/child, my sister always sang "My girl" to my niece, so they did an "official" mother-daughter dance following the father-daughter and mother-son dances, to that song at her wedding. The Katy Perry song "Firework" came out during a particularly challenging time in my daughter's life and it became my "theme song" for her -- no matter what challenges she's faced, her light shines through (cheesy, I know, but I'm her mom and think she's completely amazing... ). When daughter was planning the music for her wedding, I asked if she would ask the DJ to play Firework at some point during the night, and when he did, that's when we'd dance together (along with all the other guests). For us it worked out perfectly and the pictures and video of us dancing in celebration of the way her light shines are some of my favorites from the entire day -- totally joyful and a great representation of her and our relationship. The fact that it was also a huge group dance with everyone else, especially SIL, celebrating and singing & dancing with us made it even better for us.

Me! I love the song "Mama's Song" by Carrie Underwood. I'm not sure we'll use it but it's a great one! I'll keep my eye on this thread for suggestions, too!

I think I’m going to be surprising my mom with a dance for the two of us. My father wasn’t really a consistent part of my life so my mom took over as both roles and as a grown women she is now one of my best friends. What type of music do you like? I’ve been listening to songs that are recommended for mother/son to try and find the perfect fit.
