Mother of the Groom in Black

So, my fiance just informed me that his mom will be wearing a black dress to our wedding. We're having the reception at a nice club, but it's not black tie. Is this appropriate?

I used to have a very low tolerance for my FMIL everytime she said or did anything, she has a very different outlook on things than I do. Then I realized that she didn't mean to be well, mean. Now everytime she does or says anything I put myself in my FH's position and think well if she was my mom and said/did this would I be having the same reaction? Not knowing you or your FMIL I can't say much but that's my little bit of insight.

My mother and my FMIL are both wearing black. It doesn't bother me at all. I told them just don't wear white, off white, or cream. I actually love my mother's dress. I haven't seen my FMIL's dress yet because she lives out of state.

Thanks for all of your comments. I probably wouldn't mind her wearing black, if I didn't feel like it was her way of showing her disapproval. Oh well, I'm learning to let her rude comments/actions roll off my back and imagine in my head that she really meant something nice instead! :-)

I'm actually asking both of our mothers to wear black because our wedding colors are black & white.
