I need help! My mom said she is having a hard time finding a dress for her to wear to my wedding this coming October. We live in AZ so it'll still be pretty warm by then. She's said that she wants knee length or slightly longer and sleeves dont really matter to her as long as she can wear a bra...

I need help! My mom said she is having a hard time finding a dress for her to wear to my wedding this coming October. We live in AZ so it'll still be pretty warm by then. She's said that she wants knee length or slightly longer and sleeves dont really matter to her as long as she can wear a bra (lol). My bridesmaids will be in maroon with grey shoes and groomsmen in gray suits with maroon ties and black shoes.

What's the ettiquette here? Color, style, etc. I have no idea what I'm looking for. I haven't seen my mom in a dress since I was a kid. She's in her early 60s if that matters.

Pictures would be helpful!

There is no plan for mother of the bride dresses. Its what your mom feels comfortable in. My mom decided on a beautiful caped jumpsuit for the wedding, because she didn't like the traditional mother of the bride dresses in Davids Bridal. She found hers in Nordstroms. I would look outside of the cookie-cutter label of the mother of the bride and maybe look under just "special occasion".

Lol i feel your pain! my mom's just like "i don't know what i want I can't find anything". I told her to wear what she'd wear to work, slacks and a nice shirt and she's just like "no I'll wear a dress, you can put me in it at my funeral" lol ugh! Difficult. But with some of these suggestions I'm sure I can find something.

Thank you for the suggestion! I'll start broadening my search rather than being so specific.

What does she look good in? Or go someplace and try a variety of styles on, no one says you have to buy on the spot. But at least you know what style will look good on her.

I think a color from your bouquet would be pretty. Smiley smile Good luck! I told my mom to wear theivory dress she wore to marry my steep dad. This is my second wedding too.

I’m going through this too with my mom and FMIL. Neither know what they want to wear and I told them be comfortable because October in Texas could be 90s/80s or even in the low 60s in the evening. (Texas weather is shifty guys, it changes day to day). So far my mom found options at Dillard’s and Azazie to do the try on for $10 option. Macy’s, Stein Mart, and JCPenney has some decent dress selection too, and I agree with pp that MOB dresses mostly look the same so branch out to other types of dresses that work for her.

I'm in AZ so it'll be warm here too in October. I still haven't found anything for my mom but i kind of stopped looking for a while because I'm pretty much having to redo my whole wedding in 4 months. I'm sure I'll find something soon

DP1120201917020568M?resmode=sharp2&op_shI got this dress at JCP.com for my daughter's wedding. I am 61, size 20, and the wedding is in warm climate. The dress is very comfortable, looks much better than the picture, and only cost $62. There are many more choices at www.jcp.com Good Luck with the dress search.
