Mother of Bride and Mother-in-Law Gifts

Megan, on June 17, 2014 at 10:25 AM Posted in Planning 0 17

I am really struggling with finding a great gift for my mother and future mother-in-law. Do you guys have any ideas? Or what are y'all planning on doing? My sister just got married last September and gave my mom and her MIL the cute embroidered hankies you see all over Pinterest so I don't really want to repeat that. Any ideas are appreciated!!

I'm getting custom matching necklaces for them. For FMIL the necklace will say "Thank you for raising the man of my dreams" and for MOB "Thank you for raising the woman of my dreams".

I am having my dress custom made and the fabric left over, I am having my seamstress create hankies for all our mothers(4). I know that doesn't help but just thought I would share! Smiley smile

FMIL LOVES jewelry so I am having a mother's bracelet made. MY mother is soooo much harder. She doesn't like jewelry and she never ever cries (so no hankie).

She is gonna take some work.

I found some necklaces as well. They also come with earrings. And I want to add a nice bottle of wine.

We are doing the personalized handkerchiefs, but along with that I'm going to make a 'coupon' for a wedding album. When our pics come in from the wedding I'll make a shutterfly book for both my and his mom and send it to them.

I plan on giving them the Shutterfly albums, as well, but just not telling them about it. As for the parent's gifts FHs parents and my mom/stepdad are all big golfers, so I think we are planning on starting with a round of golf somewhere and then go from there.

You could do the hankies with different messages. I am giving mine hankies and Pandora beads.

We're doing travel-related gift cards for each of our sets of parents (could be something similar for just one person). We'll get each of them something toward a hotel stay at an area bed-and-breakfast or a vacation spot 1-2 hours away that they already enjoy going to.

We are doing coupons for photo albums once we have pictures, since both our moms really like pictures.

I am thinking of pandora bracelets. Just an idea, and it will probably change.

There's this facebook page (also local store here in Louisiana ) that takes the flowers from.your bouquet and dries the petals and makes beads out of the petals . they then make these pretty bracelets, Rosary's, necklaces whatever you want its called flower confetti.

Also of there religious you can get a custom.rosary or bible

I just don't know what my mom would do with a hanky.

We are getting both parent's a weekend stay at a nearby resort town so they too can relax after the wedding.

We are also getting them each a photo album of the wedding photos.

Fantastic post! I have been at a loss for this for some time. All I can find are the hankies or a necklace/keychain that says "thank you for raising the man of my dreams". While those are cute, I am not sure if its personal enough to really say thanks.

If they are wine drinkers, I have seen a few custom wine bottle labels on Etsy saying thanks, with a cute poem.

I have also been told by a number of people to do a pandora charm or two.

Other than that, I haven't seen many super original ideas... or ideas that haven't posted on the thread already, ha.

We are doing these frames! This company, Memoryscapes, personalizes your frame with your name and wedding date. Plus you can choose backgrounds for your parents' decor. Here is their website from etsy and a few pics of ones we chose between, but they have more. Can't wait to see our pics in these artistic frames!
