Mother as Matron of Honor

Katie, on March 18, 2019 at 8:53 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 10

Any brides out there have their mother as their matron of honor? If so, what kind of dress did she wear? We are having a small morning wedding with only family attending. I am having the hardest time finding a dress that fits both mother of the bride and bridesmaid.

I am!! My dad is standing on my FH's side. We figured out of any and everyone we could think of, they have been such a huge support and we would love them to stand by our sides.
My mom is wearing a blush color dress. My dress is ivory and bridesmaids are wearing burgundy. She found it on her own.

That is so sweet! We aren't having any bridesmaids, just my mother as the MOH and my FH's father will be the best man. We started wedding planning with no attendants but realized it may be better to have someone beside us to hold the rings (we haven't decided if we will let the ring bearer have the real ones or not) and hold my flowers. We ordered my mom a blush one over the weekend but now I am considering a navy so the men can wear navy ties.

I had my grandmother as my MOH at my first wedding and she wore a long rose gown that she already had.

I think choosing a bridesmaid type dress instead of a MOB dress would be fine- I think whatever the two of you like will fit beautifully even if it isn’t a blend of the two traditional dress types.

That’s so sweet that she is your MOH!

Stop. Your Grandmother? Hands down, the CUTEST thing. I bet she absolutely loved being the MOH, too!

Have you asked your mom what kind of dress she feels comfortable in?

I love this!! My husband has his dad as his best man! Smiley heart

My mom had a really tough time shopping for a dress when she was specifically looking at the dresses labeled as "Mother of the Bride Dresses" - she had way more luck when she just started looking for evening gowns in the color / style she wanted! I would decide on the basic look with her (length, color, formality), then just shop at department stores!

Since your mom is your only bridesmaid, I think you can let her wear a typical "Mother of the Bride" dress. Maybe pick something that will go with your flowers.

My FH's dad is our officiant so it will definitely be a family affair! I love it!
My mom said she wanted to compliment me so she decided to go with blush since my dress is ivory and cream.
Here's a picture of it. Sorry it's so dark. I'm sure you know how it is when your parents try to take a picture Haha.
Is there a particular color your mom is leaning towards?

So, this is actually very similar to what we ordered this past weekend! My colors are blush, ivory, and gold. I considered putting her in a navy dress like this but I think navy would be too dark for a morning wedding. This dress is beautiful!!
