Mother as matron of honor?

Shawn & Kelly, on November 9, 2016 at 10:58 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 15

My mom and I are very close and she's basically my best friend. I would love to have her stand with me as Matron of Honor, but is that acceptable?? I know Mother of the Bride is an important role also and I don't want to take that from her either. Thoughts and suggestions?

I don't see any issue with it. I actually think Matron of Honor would be more of a role because they stand up there instead of just walking down the aisle.

I think that you would be adding to her role as mother of the bride in an awesome way!!! If you guys have that relationship I say go for it!! She will be honored I'm sure.

I've seen lots of grooms have their dads as their best man, so your mom could absolutely be your MOH

If that's what you want, go for it! There's no rule that says you shouldn't. Actually, it might work out nicely. My mom helped me into my dress and that was about it. My MOH helped me into my dress, gave me a pep talk before I walked down the aisle, gave a speech at the reception, and was there to help during our photos. By being your MOH she might be closer to you throughout the day and it's a great way to honor her.

Do it! Your MOH can be whoever you want and I'm sure your mom would be honored.

My aunt did that because her sister decided that she was too jealous and couldn't stand by her on her wedding day. Not even joking.

I asked my mom to be my MOH and she agreed but then said she would prefer to just be the MOB and help with MOH stuff (not that theres anything for them to do lol they just like to help). I was okay with it, I just want my mom happy.
