The top 2 most ridiculous things I've heard that my friends were asked to do are:

1) As bridesmaids, plan a monthly gift to send the bride every month for a year leading up to the wedding (this sounds awesome for the bride...but come on)

2) Pay $300 per bridesmaid for a bridal shower for over 100 people....most of which were MOB invites and MOB isn't contributing

What have you been asked to do??

I have been a bridesmaid in 2 weddings (both last year and both with short amounts of time between setting a date and the wedding). The first was at my best friend from middle school's wedding. She had no idea how to plan a wedding (her sisters planned her first wedding). It was a very unconventional wedding. It was in the cafeteria at the school she and her husband worked at (which is where they first met). They got a ham, chicken and some sandwiches (and sodas, juice and water) and then myself and her family made side dishes. I "gifted" them the cake (went with a sheet cake as they didn't care to have a "fancy" cake) as well as favors (candy and bubbles) and bouquets. She didn't care what the BMs (her 16 year old daughter and I) or her MOH (one of her sisters) wore. We all just wore a top and a skirt.

The other wedding was much "worse" as far as a demanding bride goes. It was 7 weeks from the day they set the date until wedding day and she wanted the whole wedding experience so there was a lot to do. I was basically her wedding planner. We spent the first 2 days looking for a reception venue (mind you she got married May 3rd so it was prime wedding time). We visited 6 different places before she picked a venue. Luckily I had already researched and booked my photographer and DJ so she used them (my venue was sold out but her and her husband spent their wedding night at the hotel I used). Then we had to find a dress (that would be in and available for alterations. Luckily David's Bridal had a dress she liked) for her as well as BM, MOH, MOB, Jr. BM (her older daughter) and FG (her younger daughter). The BM dresses had to be changed twice as the color she wanted wouldn't be able to be ready within the time frame needed. The bride wanted a shower (mind you she was marrying a man she had been with for over 15 years, they own their home and she has everything needed for a home) and then was upset because her bachelorette party wasn't at a male strip show. Two days before the wedding she decided the favors (3 oz. wineglasses) needed ribbon on the boxes (guess who was the only BM with time to fold the boxes, put the glass into the box and then make the bow and hot glue them on the boxes, yep it was me. 80 glasses/boxes). Even with all of that, the worst was when she expected me to help her clean her house so everyone could get ready at her house (to give you an idea, they had a split level ranch so you have to go up or down the stairs when you walk in the door. You literally had to climb over "stuff" on her stairs to reach the living room where you couldn't see the floor. Her older daughter refused to help with the dishes because the ones that were in the sink had mold on them!). The worst part about that is that my sister (the MOH) lives about 10 minutes from the bride's house and my sister said everyone could get ready at her house (which is always clean and would have given us more space, mirrors and since my dad lives downstairs from my sister we could have used his bathroom if needed as well). Of course I had left the reception early so when the bride had to poop she couldn't ask me to help her. She did ask my sister (her MOH) to wipe her butt, my sister went and got the groom!
