Morning wedding, thoughts on after party

Jordan, on July 6, 2019 at 6:54 PM Posted in Parties and Events 0 6
Hi, would love any thoughts of an after party. Our wedding starts at 11am and ends at 4:30pm. Is an after party necessary or not really? And what would you suggest for after party?

Our wedding was 12-5. We didn’t have a scheduled after party because I didn’t want to be locked into doing something in case I was exhausted. But we ended up having so much adrenaline and were so excited to see people that when our friends were leaving we told them to meet us in the hotel lobby in an hour and a half. We rested for a bit, and changed, and then met about 20 people for dinner! Then got back to our hotel suite around 9:30-10ish... my husband’s best man and one of his groomsman came back with us, as well as one of husband’s other friends and his wife. The 6 of us just hung out talking until about midnight, and it was really wonderful, I wouldn’t have done anything differently!

I think having a scheduled event after the wedding would have been stressful because I would’ve been stressing in advance about what if I’m not feeling up to it. Also even though I really wanted to hang out with our friends, I was waaay too run down to actually be “partying” more lol, so dinner and just hanging out in the room was perfect for us!

An after party isn’t necessary, but it can be fun! Our wedding is 12-3:30 and we weren’t planning on having one, but FH’s aunt is having one at her house at 5:30 (leaving time for family pictures and to change out of our fancier attire). I think it’s nice to have something to end the day if the wedding is in the afternoon, even if it’s not an after party but maybe dinner with close family.

Our wedding time is similar. We are doing an afterparty at the hotel bar.

No necessary, but if you/your crowd is up for it, I say do it! Just make sure it is through word of mouth/not required if you are not hosting (paying).

Low key dinner? Sporting event? Bowling? Cool cocktail bar? Options are endless because of the time.

Go out in your wedding dress. You won't have to pay for a thing!

I don't think it is! Our blocked hotel keeps our bar open until 2AM after the wedding if guests want to go there.
