morning brunch vs afternoon tea reception

Cyndi Lou, on March 4, 2015 at 10:37 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 13

So we have been thinking an early afternoon wedding in June, in Texas. So it can get hot, but is usually moderate in June. Our reception will be outside on the back deck of the chapel. There are lots of trees for shade. But, I am starting to wonder if I should do a morning wedding and serve brunch instead? That way we are done by 2pm when it starts to get hot (if it will get hot that day).

So, two part question for you ladies, which would you prefer to attend as a guest brunch or tea. And if you choose brunch what sort of menu options would you want to see?

***ETA: I just got 5 stars!!***

We are having a 10 am backyard ceremony with a brunch reception for follow (Tennessee in sept) and our guests have loved the idea. We have a local bakery catering brunch for us - breakfast sandwiches, cinnamon rolls, sausage & bacon, coffee, tea, etc

Tea personally. But either would be very nice. For brunch ideas Google menus of hotels that serve sunday mornig brunches. It give you tons of ideas.

We are doing an after wedding brunch on the sunday and we are serving quiche, sausage, fruit salad and assorted pastries. As well a assortment of drinks (coffee, tea, mimosas etc)

I'd rather go to a morning brunch reception and be back home by mid afternoon and have the rest of my day available rather than a reception that falls right smack in the middle of the day...its too early to get much done before and could be too late to do much after.

    Brunch:

    Omelette station

    Bacon

    Sausage

    Croissants

    pancakes

    french toast

    Bloody Marys

    Mimosas

What time were you thinking of having the ceremony? I would not want to go to a wedding before 10am.

First of all, I love brunch...so that's my vote. Secondly, the idea of being outside sipping hot tea while the afternoon sun is getting hotter and hotter is not appealing.

For a brunch wedding I would have a ceremony start time of 10am ish... I think, and done by 2pm ish. If we were to do a tea it would be a 1pm start time and finish about 5ish.

Brunch, for sure. Ceremony at 11:00, food starting at 11:30, zoom-o-rama by 3:30 or so. Tea sounds more shower-y. And brunch food rocks!

I perfer brunch too. You could have stations... a ham carving, bacon, and sausage; waffles with fruits syrups and WHIPPED CREAM. And made to order omelettes. Then one for pasteries, dessets and your cake , if you have one. Coffe, tea, milk, and Oj. and if you chose ..either mimosas (my personal choice) , bloddy marys and/or screwdrivers. Liquor is totally optional for a brunch so if its not in the budget skip it! Timing? 10:30 cermony and 11:00 or 11:30 brunch.

Brunch! Omelet station, bacon, home fries or potatoes, pasta station, pastry table . . . the options are endless. You could do a make you own fruit salad station with bowls of melons, pineapple, apples, grapes, and have people build it in martini glasses, then have different flavored whipped creams for toppings! Mashed potato bar! You can do whatever you want for brunch and it's basically all delicious.
