Morning after wedding

Kathleen, on June 28, 2019 at 11:21 AM Posted in Planning 0 17
For all the brides that are having/had destination wedding, what did you do the morning after the wedding? Family breakfast? If so, how many did you invite? We have a big family on both sides so we don't want it to be a lot of people but we don't want to leave anyone out. Any other ideas on "morning after"? Give me all your ideas!!! Thank you!

We are telling our guests in our welcome bag pamphlets that we will be in the restaurant at 9AM eating breakfast if they want to say goodbye, but it isn't hosted or anything!

Brunch sounds good. But I think it’s a little tricky for a DW if everyone who traveled to your wedding isn’t invited to brunch.

We’re having a DW, but just for the wedding. Then we’re leaving the next day for our honeymoon. So we’re having a welcome gathering instead. All guests invited and the info will be on our wedding website. Our guests will probably arrive Friday, attend the wedding on Saturday and leave the day after the wedding (Sunday). However our location is only a 1 hour flight (or 6 hour drive).

Not sure what distance your DW is. But if they’ve traveled yet aren’t invited to the “morning after” festivities, then maybe scrap the idea. Or make it a light continental breakfast, of simple pastries, fruit and coffee/tea

We invited anybody who was around to have breakfast with us. Ended up being about 20 folks for a mothers day brunch!

We woke up at 5:30 am and headed off to our honeymoon Smiley smile I have no clue what any of our guests did but I think most of them had later flights!

My parents hosted a welcome BBQ the night before at the AirBnb house they rented. We knew we’d be way too exhausted to meet with guests the day after and everyone has different schedules in the morning (early risers, sleeping in, catching a plane or driving back home, etc).

My parents hosted a brunch for all guests after our DW. Agree with PP that you should probably invite everyone to the brunch. People put a lot of money into attending a DW and I feel like they should be overly hosted because of it.

We hosted a farewell brunch "open house" style where people could come anytime during the time brunch was served. This way those who wanted to sleep in could but those who wanted to eat and get on the road could get going. I agree with others that this should be hosted and available for all your guests. Having a DW means you should treat your guests extra special.

Simple continental fixings at the air bnb we are renting and are inviting only the wedding party and parents (12 peeps). As a thank you brunch and informally inviting (we only have 30 guests total) the rest of the group to come hang out with us that afternoon. Any leftover food and alcohol from the wedding will be at our place to nosh on.

We are all staying in cabins in the same area. Our wedding is a Sunday wedding and is an open bar so I think most people will be nursing hangovers (if they did it right) I know some people will be leaving that Monday for travel as ours is a DW as well but I think most people are staying through Wednesday morning. We have no real plans maybe do a hosted breakfast in our cabin or let everyone do their own things.

For all the girls that said they are hosting/hosted a brunch, how many people came and did you pay for them all? I’m expecting 50 people. My fiancé and I won’t be able to pay for all of them.

We're doing a pretty lowkey wedding, so we will be returning to the venue to do a final clean-up and perhaps doing a quick brunch with anyone who comes out to help afterwards! Smiley smile
