More sparkle? Wedding colors? Helpppp!!

Pam, on March 7, 2020 at 8:15 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 9

Hey everyone! Looking for lots of advice! The first photo is my wedding dress (though not me in it!) I loveee it but I also think it needs some more sparkle. What do you think I should do besides adding a jeweled belt?? Our wedding is October 18th, 2020. It's right on the ocean. Our bridesmaids dresses are the dusty blue dress that's pictured. I had planned on getting either white, off white or creme colored pashmina scarves to be used as shawls for them. My fiancé is going to be wearing a Heather Grey suit with a white shirt and a dusty blue tie similar to what is pictured below with brown shoes/belt. My mother seems to think that a pastel grey would be better than the white shirts and pashmina scarves but I don't think it will look good. I think it will be too dark. Any insight??? Also, please help with flowers!! Maybe dusty blue with dusty rose?? I wasn't too fond of the burgundy or marsala because I'm going for a softer, romantic, cinderella vibe. Our rings are rose gold and mine is a bit vintage. With everything else I have going on, I'm way in over my head and needing some serious help!

Why a bejeweled belt? That dress is gorgeous as is.
Have you spoken with a florist yet? I would ask what works best with the vibe you’re looking for. I met with our florist today and she gave us great pointers and ideas of why to avoid some flowers over another.
What’s the native flower where you will be? Maybe go for something like that

I think it needs a little something at least. It is a gorgeous dress as is, but I want to look princess-y. I have not spoken with a florist yet, I'm still trying to figure out if we're going to have an archway or not. I know they'll want to have an answer for that. I will email them though to get an idea for the bouquets!

I’d focus on your jewelry to make your dress pop! A jeweled head piece? A bracelet and earrings.

That’s a good idea! I only thought about the earrings, not a bracelet. I’ve been having a hard time finding the right headpiece. Thank you!

I wouldnt do a belt with that dress. I think dusty rose would look beautiful against the blue. I definitely agree with pp and get some jewelry for a little more bling.

I do think off white would be better than gray for the shawls

I agree with others about skipping a belt. Based on the photo, your dress looks to have a dropped waistline (lower than your natural waist). If you add a belt, where would you put it? At the seam with the skirt will likely look awkward and putting it at your natural waist is going to cut off the naturally long-line of the dress bodice. Depending on your figure, that could end up making you look short-waisted. One of the beautiful features of your dress is that long, smooth fitting bodice, that potentially makes you look taller and thinner than a dress with a natural waistline. Also, with all the lace detailing of the bodice, I think a jeweled belt will detract more than it would add. I think earrings and possibly a bracelet will be better ways to "add some sparkle"; however, be really careful in choosing a bracelet that doesn't have any rough edges that will catch and snag the tulle of your skirt. Gorgeous dress that all by itself will make you look like a princess!
