More Realistic Venues for young couples

Destiny, on May 12, 2019 at 10:42 PM Posted in Planning 0 26
Is it unrealistic to hire the venues this site advertises? I am trying to find country feel venue for $2000 and I can’t find any. Please help me figure out how to find the right ways to get the cheaper venues and that.

I'm not sure what venues go for in your area, but I found the venues I ended up visiting by Google searching tons of different phrases ("wooded event venue", "historical event venue", etc) in my area. I found a lot of articles and wedding blogs with venues I hadn't come across (I do live near LA though, so that might not be as true somewhere less populated). Most the things I found where much cheaper than what I was finding on lists here, which is odd because they are on the site. I used the reviews here for the venues before booking though. Maybe WW charges vendors to be listed? That would deter more budget friendly vendors.

Of course vendors pay here. Some states may be well represented here, and may have a great range of prices. Where I live now and recently planned a wedding, there are probably 50 plus places to hold a wedding, not listed here, for every one that is. These are mostly wedding focused. But ridiculously priced for many of us. Planning for a family member out of the country, screening choices then sending on likely one, nothing on the has what you want / at a reasonable price list I made are listed on WW or the knot. Great places, from restaurants with large function rooms which do everything from business functions to big anniversaries, they have all but wedding cutesy stuff ( like, no bells over doorways or love inscriptions) and are located in scenic small towns and even ski areas out of season. There are huge price differences. And those less likely to be all wedding, are a lot more flexible about food, willing to give you menus with 5-8 meals that guests can choose, not a limit if 2 with a fee for going to 3. And this is not counting halls from VFW to church halls. It would have been impossible to have the same stuff my cousin planned for herself while I planned for another cousin, on the $11,000-14,000 budgets we did. Same stuff with places listed here would have been $22,000 to 30,000 to get comparable stuff. This was true back when we planned our wedding too. Not a single place on our final 10 to check out was on wedding site listings on WW or elsewhere. We did to want such pricey places. Or the mandatory vendor lists some use. At some point you have to look and say, do we want to pay .65 for a terrific piece of baklava, or $3.00, and go right down the line, food and drink and linens, etc. Of course, it depends what you want. A friend's daughter entertained our whole quilting group indirectly from her mother's comments. " No, still looking. She complained neither of the 2 we picked had room for classic car limos to stay parked along the curb, but why get them if they won't be there for hours for pictures?". Comments entertaining to those of us who do not think $75 K is a minimum for a wedding. Which they are so disappointed mom and dad are not paying for. Look locally, town by town. There are good deals out there.

Depends on the area and what type of venue you're looking to have your wedding/reception.

How I found ours I pretty much googled barn/farm venues and came across ours online not on any wedding website.

We actually had another venue in mind and had scheduled a tour to go look at it but we had went and tour the venue we went with for our wedding ceremony/reception acouple days before our venue appt w/the other venue.

Once we seen and tour the venue we hired we knew this was where we wanted our wedding at.

It's out in the country and on a Saturday is 2500 plus 500 (deposit) that was actually the cheapest venue price for a Saturday wedding we've found.

Also, I can't remember for the life of me what it is called, but there is a BEAUTIFUL barn near Bellingham that if I remember right was quite affordable. It was a smaller venue though

I would rely on Google. I think maybe one of my vendors is on this site. My venue isn't on any wedding site that I have seen.

I used google also. We have a tiny budget. I'm aiming for $2000, but I think it'll be closer to $2500. Anyway, I searched for venues and found a place for $475 including indoor and outdoor door space and tables/chairs. I love that I can bring in my own caterers, etc. The building is on the National Historic Landmark registry and so doesn't need a lot of decorating.

My point is use google and be prepared to look outside the box. At one point, I was looking at an art museum, an old movie theater, and an old industrial building that has been converted for parties. Avoid searching for "wedding." That jacks the price up. Try "party venues near Kitsap" or "community halls near Kitsap" or "historic buildings near Kitsap." Also you could search "rustic venues near" or "camp venues near."

WW has been great for me as far as support and help on the forums, but the vendors offered have all been much too expensive for my budget. Good luck! You'll find something great and have a beautiful wedding.

Have you tried just doing a google search for venues in your area? That's how I found mine - they aren't on WW, but they were in my price range and offered everything we wanted!!

I searched on google and found/called probably 15 venues.

I had a separate piece of paper for each and wrote down important questions to ask and I narrowed it down to 2 venues that were what I was looking for.

It was after that I found wedding wire...lol. but that process worked really good for me because I didn't get my hopes up about any specific venue.

I agree that a lot of the venues on here seem to be more on the higher end of price points. I would suggest that Google become your friend. I also found that https://www.herecomestheguide.com is really helpful with finding venues, seeing their prices, photos, getting more info etc.

I did have luck on here with finding some vendors though.

I would look into local or state parks. Here in MD, if you're a resident then you get your rental at a discounted rate.

All of the advertisements directed at me on this site are over 90 minutes away. I just googled and facebooked like crazy to compile a list of venues to check out.

I found my venue using The Knot. For venues, I had better luck on there. I have used WR for other vendors and had good luck. So I would use both The Knot and WR and see what you find. I pretty much found all of my vendors on one or the other. You can also just do a simple Google search or attend local wedding shows in your area.

I live in the Tacoma area, and found several country/rustic/barn venues in Chehalis (not sure if you're willing to look that far from home, but wanted to throw it out there)! Most were priced around $3000 for a Saturday, but may have been cheaper for a non-Saturday. One thing to keep in mind when looking for a venue is how flexible they are with your other vendors (especially catering/alcohol). If the venue allows you to choose your own caterer and bring in your own alcohol, you could potentially save a lot of money! Feel free to message me if you'd like more details about some of the venues I found early on in my search!

I found a local facebook group for brides and it has been SO helpful. There's lots of brides and vendors in the group ready to help out. The one I'm in is for brides in Oregon and Washington called Brides On A Budget. You can search to see if there's one in your area.

It’s so difficult, that is my budget and everything that I found was for over 3,500 unless I decided to get married at the court house. You will find your preferable place with time, patience and lots of research. Good luck 🍀 and be blessed
