More Money for a Bigger Space? Guest comfort or budget?

Callie, on July 12, 2019 at 10:25 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 9

Hi all! I need help with an important decision. I found an all-inclusive location at $41.50 a person that includes food, open bar, linens - the works. However, the space comfortably fits 80. I have 107 on my guest list and have placed my date on a Friday to save money. This location also has two other ballrooms that could potentially be used at the same time. Although we could make the space work, I'm a bit hesitant to not have flexibility in the space - so we found another venue that was larger to tour. It is almost twice the size and has a bridal suite to get ready in, is the only room on location for a reception, and is a tad bit closer to home. This would add about $1,500 to our budget. What are your thoughts? We like them pretty equally in terms of their aesthetic.

I would either go with the larger place or cut your guest list to comfortably fit into the smaller venue. If you have almost 30 extra guests in a space, it’s going to feel super cramped.

I think that price doesn't sound bad at all, and if it were me, I'd rather have more guests and more space. I'd go with the bigger room.

Only you can make this decision, but a good rule of thumb is to, just like you said, consider guests' comfort! I think it's better to have a smaller guest list and pamper them rather than large guest list and risk not properly hosting them!

Personally I would go with the bigger space and higher guest list. Trying to cut 30 people off my guest list would be very difficult, especially since we took ours from over 200 down to 130! 1,500 isn't that bad a process difference to have more room, and all.the guests you want!

If you can't seem to cut your guest list, I would definitely go with the bigger space. Better not to risk it being cramped.

Bigger space. I know it's more money but you wouldn't have to worry about other parties/ receptions going on. You get a bridal room too.
Of course you could cut the guest list but that's a deep number to cut.
