Monograms on invites???

Brandi ♥'s Chris, on October 27, 2010 at 2:37 PM Posted in Planning 0 27

I was just wondering if any of you ladies will be using your monogram on your invites to your wedding. I was reading last night that you're not suppose to, but I just recieved an invite not too long ago that had one on it. So just wondering what everyone is doing. Thanks

They say you aren't supposed to use your future last name (as in on your monogram) until the reception, because until after the wedding its not your last name. Sooo.. having his last name initial like- rSt -shouldn't be used until after the wedding. They SAY you shouldn't do it.. but a lot of people do lol So its up to you. If you want to be etiquette-ly correct, then I wouldn't, but if that's not too important to you then go for it.

I did it on STD and I wish I can upload a pic at work. http://www.weddingchicks.com/wedding-chicks/diy-templates/13448/free-wedding-monogram-swirl-invitation-download/ I did the angel wings one on white paper and cut it in small sqaure to glue it on pink background paper. People love it.

I don't like our monogram, because there are 2 k's (kKw) but if it weren't for that, I would be using it. I know a lot of people do and to me it isn't that big of a deal.. We will probably use a "K" at the top of our invites and programs.

If you want to technically be correct, and not use the 3 letter one, you can always do the more modern take on it and just use your first initials like.. K&W or K W

We're using it for our invitations. It's a little sticker with a super fancy "O" on it. I'm not too worried about the etiquette thing, nobody's going to care.

Honestly, I do not think one guest will wonder about the supposed "etiquette" of it, if I received a monogramed invitation I would think it was extremely nice.

It is a popular trend to use the monogram on everything, especially if you don't relly have a "theme". And kk is correct, the last name should not be spelled out unless the items are for the reception or after the wedding, like Thank you cards and favors.

What if it was a monogram with our first names and then the first initial of our new last name so something like this but much fancier

    Alexandra R Gary

Hopefully you know what I mean because I have the same question and I'm not sure.

@ Alexandra, I guess it goes against etiquette, but it's a common thing to use it on invites these days. That's what I'm getting from everyone. So I think it's safe to say we can use it
