I'm sure this has been asked but I can't search on the app. My FMIL is insisting we have a money tree at our shower and wedding. I HATE this idea. My FMIL is insisting we have a money tree at our shower and wedding. I HATE this idea. I feel like it's so tacky and I can't even think of a way to make it look decent. She insists that its traditional and we should have it. She's actually the second person in the family to suggest this.

Has anyone else had one? I already have a card box which I think is perfectly fine and not tacky.

(If you did do a money tree don't be offended please I just don't want my guests to feel obligated to give us money.)

I'm 19, FH is 20. Our families are rowdy crowds so the going crazy for free booze could totally just be our families.

@OGJaci I won't pretend to be a saint, and I've definitely drank underage and been to parties ect so I've seen how some people act.

It is the bartenders job but in the end it was easier just to do without it. I didn't want to worry about it and FMIL was constantly going on about "if someone drinks and drives and something happens I'm responsible bc I bought the alcohol and I'll go to jail.." And after hearing that like 20 times it gets annoying lol!
