So my wedding is in 17 months and even though we're planning major ahead for the wedding cuz we've been planning for 2 years now haven't planned out the honeymoon and just thinking about where to go and what to do and even just doing something simple cost so much money that it's such a headache. I don't honestly really want to do a honeymoon after doing all the calculations and seeing how much it's going to cost but I feel like if we don't go on a honeymoon or regret it for the rest of our lives. I mean you only get it one honeymoon right? Does anybody else understand what I mean or like feel the same way.? Does anybody else feel like a honeymoon is stressful well the planning aspect of it at least and the financial aspect of it.

Yeah I think that's what we'll end up doing probably going to like Universal Studios for like 2 days and just enjoying our time to ourselves for like a Mini Moon and then in a year or so after our one year anniversary will go out and go have the real honeymoon that we both really want that way it's not so financially stressing

That sounds Exquisite adjust take a couple days to ourselves to enjoy and relax and be married to each other without everyone else in our face or having too stressed about stuff I'm really starting to like the idea of a Mini Moon and I'm 95% sure that's what we'll end up doing

    14 years of “wait”

2 years of saving and another 2 of planning and it still feels like it’s going to be a hot mess in the because of money lol

    i don’t know why I think that

basically all the stuff I want to pay for FIRST won’t even take money for a while and I know better than to try a save it separately because life happens

like an dental abscess in July that was a boatload!!!

but I just know if I have a 10k bank account something will go horribly wrong and the price tag will be 3 times the account regardless so I’d rather 3 times a bit then 3 times what feels like our life lol

i don’t know what things are like where you’re from but we don’t even have weddings really

most people are too broke and do church for free and flowrrs from yard with bbq after for 400-600 in paper products and beer lol

but SO is from northeast and wants a “real” wedding

im just putting it out there that there’s a super cute secluded bungalow style house on sale right now for 10k and this wedding is probably going to cost 15

i mean like literally bleed us dry for 4+ years and leave us with debt the likes of which I haven’t had since student loans for my private all girls college lol

you ARE NOT alone and will always find sympathy on WW for your planning, budget, and relationship lows

AND all the little and big moments that in the end will have made it all worthwhile lol

I'm hearing a lot about this Mini Moon and I think that's what we'll end up doing and then just saving up for maybe a year or two years and I'm taking a real hunting morning after. I guess I just got so caught up in the idea that the honeymoon had to be after the wedding because it was this ideal romantic type of thing but logically and realistically talkin it's not that we would be so exhausted and so tired and no matter what we did would be jet-lagged and it's just not worth it rather we stay home and have a nice weekend to ourselves and enjoy being married then be grumpy and grouchy and practically broke trying to have a romantic textbook perfect honeymoon

I personally really loved the idea of going at 1 or 2 year anniversary because it’s a way to get back that giddy “newlywed” feel again after the wedding and name change excitement have soaked into your brain and been properly processed and memorialized lol

but it definitely must be nice to have a housewives of NJ wedding followed by the private villa rented in Italy for 2 weeks lol

i did get SO to “compromise” (1 we’re definitely not having a dream honeymoon with our free cabin on beach ...but in winter... and OREGON (I’m SC lol)

but we would not be going if it essentially wasn’t donated to us and even then it’s a shoe string thing lol

my compromise? We’re not even checking out of hotel until 4 day after wedding lol

and cannot leave before the next weekend so I have “recovery, decompression, and absorption time” lol. I need to mentally recover from the stress of planning a wedding, the excitement of my wedding, and the actual physical effects of a party on my body (never drink so definitely going to feel beyond crappy after lol), to decrompress my brain and move away from and let go of all the crazy wedding stuff, and to think about the day while it’s fresh in my mind so I have all of the details: I hear so many people say it’s all a blur lol; but personally I want to take time to remember it

plus we are letting everyone know so it’s an opportunity for some extra family time for anyone who wishes

or alone time if not lol

bottom line I told him I would trade dress, menu, date, and theme (only things I really like) to afford the suite full of groceries for a week total by the time we get there a day or 2 before lol

Yeah I think I like just staying home instead of having to pay for a hotel room since we're in Southern California and then we can just drive to like the beach or an amusement park or an aquarium and we don't have to worry about paying Hotel fees and we can just sleep in our own bed

    I could definitely see that

i just feel like if I go home I’m going to want to unpack and refuse to leave lol

i don’t want be in hotel for a couple of days, home for a couple, and supposed to be packed and gone again in a couple of more...

i know if we go go home I will work on dealing with all the decor from venue and blah blah blah and it will be 0 break for me... in fact for me it would be a ton of work in a couple days “hoping to get it done and come back to everything done” but it’s not realistic to want everything perfect within a couple days with the hang over factor and family still in town and the need to get my normal life reset lol
