Mom and MIL coming to bachelorette party?

KNB2016, on September 21, 2016 at 11:08 AM

Have anyone of you had your mom or future MIL at your bachelorette? Both are coming to mine and I'm a little nervous about it. We are having a pure romance party and then going to a local bar afterward so I don't think it will be too terrible. Any experience with this?

My mom and FMIL will not be attending my bachelorette party!

It really depends on your relationship with your mom and the MiL, and/or what your doing. Part of my bachelorette included zip lining, then dinner, then back to my house for drinking. My mom and MiL were invited to the zip line and dinner, but not the drinking. Mostly because I would have felt weird about drinking from penis straws with my mother and MiL there.

That and I don't get along with my mother, and I didn't want her around for everything. As it was, she was a last min addition.

My mom and FMIL have had to deal with sloppy drunk me before so I'm not worried about it.

Thank you guys! You've eased my worries some! Like I said I'm super super super close with both my mom and FMIL so I think they are going to add to the fun really. They are hysterical together and get along really well too. A lot of you had moms at your party and it went well so I think I was just getting jitters for no reason.

We are going to the beach for a weekend so my mom is going to my bachelorette party but if we go out to the bar or anything she wont come with us, she will most likely pick us up. Also my nieces who are 1 and 3 will also be at my bachelorette party as well and my mom will also be helping with taking care of them too.

My mom will be coming. She's the life of the party. MIL I'm not sure yet. We might do a weekend thing & keep one night calmer where more family is there.

I didn't have a bachelorette but my SIL did and our MIL and her mom (and some of their friends) met up with us at the first bar and then went home when we went to the 2nd bar.

Eh, mine will probably be something boring like a spa day and dinner so I wouldn't be too upset if my mom was there. My BP is my two cousins and my best friend...so mostly family anyways.

I think I would feel awkward as a bridesmaid or friend if the bride's mom and MIL were there, even if the bride was comfortable with it.

I went to a bach party in Florida and the MIL and Aunt came..... this was after the MIL invited herself and hijacked the weekend. Oh it was also her bday over the weekend and we all had to pay for her dinner. GTFO! I have a great relationship with my mom and I know I wouldn't be weird about any of it. But for the sake of my girls and the sake of my mom... she's not invited.

I get that some people have good relationships with their moms and others dont do a sexual or party theme.

MY MOTHER tried to invite herself to my bachelorette party. I told her absolutely not. I told her she got to go to the shower (which I didnt want) and that was a nice time for family and young kids and grandma and her and the aunts etc. She said she didnt even HAVE a bachelorette party and that my shower was stressful. I told her I'm sorry my wedding isnt living up to her expectations.

The way I see it, this is my time for relaxation and letting lose with my friends. This wedding planning has been a stressful nightmare and it's not going to be relaxing with her there trying to steal the show and simultaneously control me and judge me.

Jesus, I would never invite my MIL to my own bachelorette party - not only because she is a MIL but also because I am wild af. But my mom is a diff story maybe...

I don’t know why this is coming back up again but I got married almost three years ago when this was posted 😅 They both came and we all had a great time, the both left early and let me have my own girl time. They both told me how happy they were to be invited

I can't imagine bar hopping with my teetotal future mother in law, and not with my mother either. I love them, but they aren't my friends. They have the bridal shower.
