Moissanite vs White Sapphire vs Diamond??

Hey ladies! What are your thoughts and experiences with different stones for an engagement ring? Because of the ethics and price of diamond, I'd love to get a different stone. Does anyone know pros and cons of moissanite or white sapphire??

I have a white sapphire and after the wedding I will be changing rings to one with a blue sapphire. I haven't had any problems with it. People have never asked me what kind of stone it is.

I don't have a moissanite but I don't think it's bad when people who do don't feel the need to constantly clarify that it isn't a diamond. It seems like that would be exhausting.

I'm trying to get FH on board with a diamond alternative. I don't necessarily want a diamond but he keeps misinterpreting my thoughts as me saying I only want a non-diamond so I can have a bigger/flashier ring. I don't want it bigger. Just to not be a diamond. Lol

This is my white sapphire ring. If I am close with the people I tell them it isn't real but if I'm not then I just say thanks cause I don't like to go into detail like that with a stranger. But if they ask I will tell them the truth.

I got mine from Jeulia.com since I didn't want a real diamond. Try looking there

My ring from my first wedding had a Lannyte, which is a lab grown artificial diamond. ExH was on disability and a diamond would have killed his budget. It wasn’t as sparkly as a real diamond but it was lovely and I adored it.

I have a white sapphire and I do tell people it's a sapphire bc it has amazing meaning behind it.

I have a moissanite from Charles and Colvard and I love it. I also quite willingly tell people what it is if they ask or if it somehow comes up. I didn't want to support the diamond industry, because I personally feel there are a lot of problems with it ethically. But I also love that moissanite was originally found in meteorites, is almost as hard and slightly less brittle than diamond, and has a higher refractive index.

Moissanite...for it's fire, beauty, strength, and budget appeal. They are gorgeous stones. It's what I would want if I were ever to get engaged again.

And, when someone comments on your ring, you don't owe them the information on the receipt. If someone says, "Is that real?", you reply, "Of course it's real", because it is. If someone says, "Damn, girl, that's one huge stone", you reply, "I know, it's gorgeous isn't it?" If anyone pushes beyond that, and by that I mean if they ask how much the ring cost, you're free to say, "I didn't ask. It was a gift."

I have white sapphires one mine and people thought they were diamonds. FH is anti diamonds and I love my ring. Center is meteorite and white sapphires on the sides.

Absolutely love my moissanite. We honestly went with it because of the overall reduced cost and FH thought it was absolutely beautiful.

I have no issue with telling someone what my stone is but I also don't wear a sign on my back. LOL I don't think it's necessary. But if someone asked me, I also think lying is pretty childish.

I have a moissanite and I LOVE LOVE IT. We picked it because of ethical reasons and budget reasons.

We initially looked into getting a conflict free diamond from brilliant earth, but after calling and calling, they still wouldn't tell us where they got the diamond we were interested in. So, we really struggled with finding a truly for sure conflict free gem. Thus, moissanite it was! PLUS, it reflects RAINBOWS instead of white light, how cool is that?!!

II had never heard of moissanite but they look very pretty. I think non-diamonds are the way to go. I don’t think diamonds are any better Than a sapphire or an emerald etc. I wanted emerald on my wedding ring but it was too expensive. I have a diamond engagement ring but a crystal wedding ring because we didn’t want to spend very much money. It looks just as fine.

I have a custom made moissanite ring. I was originally going to go with a peach sapphire, but after the jeweler ordered some in for me to see, I changed my mind. Since sapphires are less durable than moissanites and diamonds, they are also less sparkly. Sparkle was a really important factor to me, so I decided to go with the moissanite and I'm so so glad I did!!

I struggle with this! Since my moissanite is 8mm (2 carat weight equivalent), it looks insanely expensive. Sometimes I feel guilty letting them think I own something that valuable. I’ve always been pretty vocal about being against diamonds, so a lot of people know what it is (and are impressed, because let’s face it, it is so much more beautiful than any 2 carat diamond most people could afford — my jeweler said a comparable diamond would’ve been around $25k). So, some people know. Others who comment on it, I generally bite my tongue and just say “I guess he likes me!” But, it’s nothing to be ashamed of. I feel like the smartest girl in the room with this bling on my hand 😉 photos just don’t do it justice. I could stare at this thing and watch it sparkle for hours!

I have a diamond ring and I love it. I am not a huge fan of non-diamond rings. Like those who like non-diamond rings, I just like diamond rings and that's that. I don't think it has to do with the "price" or anything like that...I just never thought of the alternatives. I'm also not a huge fan of cluster rings or huge rocks. I would much prefer a dainty diamond over a big moissanite or white sapphire, but that is just my personal opinion.

I have a white sapphire and titanium ring, and everyone thinks it's diamond.

If we couldent have afforded at least a 1 ct diamind .. i would have went moissanite .. i think budget plays a roll in this .. also size factor .. if you want a 2 ct ring but have a 3k budget . Moissanite is ypur best bet .. id go white saphire for a lower budget or earrings .. since i cant afford to lose expensive earrings . And i always loose my earrings
